Kara-Lis Coverdale is great - in addition to making ambient music and hanging out with Tim Hecker she's a church organist who occasionally plays rap instrumentals as people are filing in or out of the church.

Pretty sure I saw Grafts in at least a couple of album polls though.

No Paramore yet. Wonder if they've suffered from vote splitting

re: Paramore, I voted for the album, but I can't imagine "Hard Times" not making it, at least

the only other acts with potential for multiple tracks left are SZA and maybe Lorde?

I feel like this is so far the most bonkers ILX end of the year list so far. Like a playlist of these songs in this particular order would absolutely perplex anyone who isn't aware of the context.

I suspect the final stretch will be much less wild but I've been loving it so far

grafts obviously improves a lot on half-decent speakers or headphones, there's quite a lot of detail for such a minimal sounding piece

grafts is lovely so far, would be good to fall asleep to

the final stretch might be less wild but i still don't have any real idea what sort of order things will be in this year

if i had to guess the only two that have a chance at placing are prob the slowdive remix (which would technically mean avalon emerson placed three times, so maybe that's too much/too unrealistic) and the carmen villain track

this is my favourite bobbins track so far

Slowdive could benefit from the combined original + remix rule

Idly wondering how different this list would have been if everyone had voted in November, ie before most of the end-of-year lists were published. There's a lot of here that generated virtually no discussion here but appeared prominently in several lists and accompanying playlists.

Like the album but my favorite track is "Fleeting Moments of Freedom (Wooo)."

Get in there! Original is great but the remix is a great big driving monster and probably the best thing avalon emerson has done so far ( which sayin' somethin')

what I'm finding genuinely perplexing is the massive kpop showing when that rolling thread isn't really all that active/populated (with the possibly key difference that the last month is mostly "who should we vote for?" talk which I guess I should try for my own pet rolling threads). forapper as influential as Tim really

Right. The LP version is cold and not really my thing, but the Avalon Emerson embellishment is sort of...cozy?

If the K-pop thread has coalesced around a small number of songs then it makes sense they're well represented here. The afropop thread has hundreds of tracks on it and I'm sure a lot of them got one or two votes but there are relatively few rallying points this year - although I bet one or two are still to come here.
