https://youtu.be/sDZgZE1TG0E

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:41 (eight years ago)

oh shit I've not heard this one. Oh shit how did I not know she had an album out this year??

Badgers (dog latin), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:43 (eight years ago)

this is dope!

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:46 (eight years ago)

I'm merely an afropop tourist, but I like this a lot.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:46 (eight years ago)

soundcloud says the release date for this was 15 December 2017, that's cutting it pretty fine for the 77

faust apes (NickB), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:47 (eight years ago)

nice song btw

faust apes (NickB), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:47 (eight years ago)

Nice!

Frederik B, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:49 (eight years ago)

Yay! The album didn't make my ballot but this one was pretty high up on my tracks list.

emil.y, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:50 (eight years ago)

this song is amazing

rob, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:52 (eight years ago)

soundcloud says the release date for this was 15 December 2017

VERY, considering noms opened on the 14th.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 14:54 (eight years ago)

That's part of the reason for the bonus 10 noms allotted in the final 24 hour stretch, though.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:00 (eight years ago)

!!!!!

#TeamHailing (imago), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:01 (eight years ago)

This is destined to be the most interesting stretch of the whole poll folks, so savor it

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:02 (eight years ago)

imago-approved maximalism, as promised

#TeamHailing (imago), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:02 (eight years ago)

(my #6)

#TeamHailing (imago), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:02 (eight years ago)

this is awesome

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:03 (eight years ago)

Oh cool - in a reversal to the last one, I didn't vote for any L'Rain tracks but the album made it very high on my list!

emil.y, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:05 (eight years ago)

is this the first 77 entry to contain a hidden track?

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:07 (eight years ago)

that Nilüfer Yanya song is all right but the pretentious blank expression on her face throughout the video is enraging to me

(the blues version in his Broadway show) (crüt), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:08 (eight years ago)

not sure it's hidden - it's in the title! the silence is just a pause to reflect on how amazing the music is. psychedelic soul-prog yall

#TeamHailing (imago), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:09 (eight years ago)

I dunno, crut. That just seems like...her face? xp

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:10 (eight years ago)

this is the most imago song ever

Badgers (dog latin), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:11 (eight years ago)

apologies in advance but it reminds me of the ambient fanfare at the end of Kid A

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:11 (eight years ago)

yeh voted album too, whole thing as a piece truly rules

nxd, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:12 (eight years ago)

also, I only discovered this after the nominations closed and would have possibly voted for one of the other tracks instead, but this was the only one nominated and as my introduction to l'rain it merited instant high inclusion. as for the album...well that's another story. next week...

#TeamHailing (imago), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:12 (eight years ago)

i never got round to listening to this but enjoying it in the here and now

faust apes (NickB), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:13 (eight years ago)

xp ("stay go" is my choice cut i guess)

nxd, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:13 (eight years ago)

yeah, 'stay go'

#TeamHailing (imago), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:13 (eight years ago)

is that her going all yma sumac at about 2:00 or is that a synth?

faust apes (NickB), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:15 (eight years ago)

i liked the l'rain album but not quite enough to vote for anything from it

ufo, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:15 (eight years ago)

I find this L'Rain pretty annoying but yesterday was rather placid so I'm okay with it

rob, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:17 (eight years ago)

this ten year old track used the Moodymann sample way better than Drake did:

All aboard the L'Rain. Very good to see it place. Album is nuts.

53 THE XX "I Dare You" [170 points, 6 votes]
https://youtu.be/qqflFMhkqHM

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:21 (eight years ago)

I loved that xx album

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:21 (eight years ago)

lovely song

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:22 (eight years ago)

Say Something Loving and Replica were the highlights from that album to me but this was fine too, maybe one of them is still to place?

weirdly when I saw them recently they did this as a stripped down ballad, nowhere near as good

ufo, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:23 (eight years ago)

In my head last January I kept imagining a Buckingham-Nicks cover.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:23 (eight years ago)

Glad to see L'Rain. I actually nominated this on one of the last days for nominations so didn't really expect it to place. Only discovered this very recently but have listened to it a bunch the last couple of weeks.

silverfish, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:23 (eight years ago)

reminds me of use somebody by kings of leon :/

nxd, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:24 (eight years ago)

see how all the artists have been different? hasn't that been exciting? (starting my rules change campaign early )

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:24 (eight years ago)

lol but true xp

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:25 (eight years ago)

Love the album, voted for it. If I'd voted for a song it would probably have been Dangerous. On Hold placed last year, right?

Frederik B, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:27 (eight years ago)

I believe so.

Simon H., Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:27 (eight years ago)

Not sure about combining points for originals and remixes that can be voted for separately. What's to stop someone heaving 98 points onto a single placement? Anyway, it's decent-ish disco so w/e

You can't vote for more than one version of a song, just like you can't vote for the same song twice.

? (seandalai), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:28 (eight years ago)

I may like or dislike an artist, I may like every other measure of a particular song, but the second I hear a fucking "oh whoa oh" part I check out.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:28 (eight years ago)

(Not throughout pop history...just in recent years. Y'all know that "oh whoa oh" I'm talkin' 'bout.)

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:29 (eight years ago)

may like or dislike an artist, I may like every other measure of a particular song, but the second I hear a fucking "oh whoa oh" part I check out swoon.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 15:29 (eight years ago)

After their totally forgettable second album and Jamie's dreary solo one, I really didn't think I needed another XX album in my life, but I went back to I See You a lot last year. Might be my favourite album of theirs now.
