It was a hit by the only metric that counts: everybody in the club sings along with it whenever you play it out.

It also ranked #52 on Billboard’s songs of 2017 chart, two notches below mi gente, fwiw.

There's way too many songs on it produced by Quavo, lol. But in hindsight, it seems like the inevitable bloated follow-up to a lean masterpiece, and then it might as well be as bloated as can be. Enough good stuff on it to be worthwhile, but it's no Without Warning.

Culture is "lean" only by comparison lol, it's an hour long!

a trend I really don't like is artists overloading their albums to goose streaming numbers. More tracks = more streams = better chart position, but worse listening experience

I mean, I guess they realize that people are just gonna cherrypick the tracks they like, so why not improve your chances at a surprise hit by releasing everything you've ever recorded

looking at the tracklists for culture and culture 2 the songs are pretty long lots of 4:30s and 5:00s

ive listened to culture all the way through a lot of times and just learned itt that its an hour long always kind thought of it as short lol

anyway a long album is cool with me more tunes man

unless this album is exceptional (and who knows, maybe it is but I haven't scratched the surface yet), the length isn't going to do them many favours I think. Sure it's not the first double-length hip hop album, but it's not like there's a conceptual reason to do an epic like this

Culture seams leaner because it only has 13 tracks and apart from Dj Khaled no, like, intros or skits or stuff like that. What I wrote was meant to be a joke about Without Warning, though ;)

god i hated that khaled intro the whole album has such a soft nice sound except for the beginning that has this very annoying man yelling extremely aggressively

yeah i hate it too. always skip it if i can.
