I do too, actually. At least as far as the rollout goes (highest voted song by the artist is their de facto single appearance), but people would riot.

Especially since I'm guessing the # of nominated tracks and albums goes up every year with the hyperavailability offered by streaming services

I wrote in some other thread the same proposal. 77 songs, no repeating artists and maybe acknowledge the next two most voted songs from artists with more than one song in the real top 77. when the rollout is over post the 'real' top 77 with repeating artists. In 2014 we had like 5 Taylor Swift songs and in 2015 4 CRJ and 3 Grimes songs. This year I think will be a tad more surprising but we'll still get 3 or more Kendrick songs in there.

I see the problem about changing the rollout and I don't really see it happening but you can't deny it would be a bit more interesting. After all the real surprises are always in the lower numbers.

I propose that every year and get shouted down but imo we should take an actual vote or something

I'm in but someone else should do the writeup about the proposal in a poll. I suck at explaining things convincingly, specially in english.

If we get two more posters in who like the idea I could draft it.

Why wait a year? If it passes (which, tbh, I don't think it would), I can't imagine it would be all that difficult to adjust the rollout.

Guys, this change ain't gonna happen. It's one of the flaws of a consensus poll. If a person votes for a song, that vote should count.

I'd always assumed people would get mad if their third favorite Young Thug feature didn't show up in the 77, but if that's not the case, it's something everyone can decide on before the 2018 poll. Too late for this one.

Is it actually prohibitively difficult to add a two-option poll to the eventual tracks ballot (assuming there's sufficient interest beyond....*counts*...five posters)? Or is it just annoying? (That's not me being petty, it would be a completely fair reason, since I can extrapolate how much work running this poll would be from running a relatively piddly single-artist one.)

The thing is the second, third, fourth song do appear as if in the real top 77 but they’re hidden until the top song appears in the rollout.

The benefit of doing it in that way is that you get to discuss 77 different artists and songs and when an artist with several songs in the top 77 appears you get to discuss all those in the context of album. And now we’re not only discussing the top 77 songs were discussing at least 10 more.

I know there’s a rollout with everything else below in the end but once the rollout is over people stop paying attention...

Either way, you know I love your effort and the top 77 is always fun and one of my favorite EOY polls if only because of how varied the voters personal tastes are.

The main reason I'm pushing any changes to 2018 is because I'm 99% sure this is the last year I'm gonna be part of the team putting the poll together, and I wanna go out on an easy breezy high note. :)

Girls In Airports are one of the most underrated bands int he world today and they released a fantastic live album this year

Probably not going to nominate this for our poll, but Maryam Saleh, Maurice Louca, and Tamer Abu Ghazaleh's Lekhfa is worth a listen. Arab indie. I think I'm missing a lot in this case by not being able to understand the words.
