I understand if you want Uncanny Valley off the list. No hard feelings if it doesn't make the spreadsheet. To me its about as heavy as any Cleric, Deafheaven or Mt. Erie albums that have made it in the past. Certainly weaves through a lot of genre's but it's pretty extreme. But yeah, I guess noise/experimental/avant would be the primary genres.

Will probably be voting for NM even if their frontman's disavowal of terrible beliefs was transparently disingenuous - it was a good album. I wish I knew nothing else about the band than their music

So is Eastern European exoticism part of Nokturnal Mortum's appeal? To be fair, I've only heard their first two records but they reminded me of post-1989 village wedding bands hellbent on showcasing their portable Yamaha keyboard at every gig.

ILX surely not boring enough to vote Bell Witch #1

Bell Witch will probably be on my ballot, but fairly low. the length really does make it a prohibitive thing.

I didn't like the Bell Witch album that much but I don't resent their popularity. But I seem to remember speculation about placings etc is frowned upon so I'll just say they weren't who I was thinking of and leave it at that.

Oh I didn't mind it. Perfectly pleasant, gave it 6/10. I will now work out what you were thinking of and not spill it all over ILM

why not get some early campaigning for albums done? It always helps album placings when people campaign for them

That Mesarthim EP is really lovely as usual

Yellow Eyes released my favourite "straight" black metal album this year, those riffs are USBM perfection.

Corpse Garden have taken death metal to new Costa Rican levels with their weirdly-titled and utterly kickass IAO 269
