surprising no one, i like it, but not as much as "last of the real ones"
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Wednesday, 15 November 2017 19:53 (eight years ago)
I haven't heard any of these songs yet, but can we all agree that "Hold Me Tight Or Don't" is a fantastic (and deeply FOB) song title?
― The Harsh Tutelage of Michael McDonald (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 16 November 2017 03:26 (eight years ago)
def a very FOB song title yah
brad what's appealing about this to you?
― Spottie, Thursday, 16 November 2017 03:30 (eight years ago)
i gotta listen to it again when i get home but the main attraction is the way stump sings it iirc
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 16 November 2017 04:10 (eight years ago)
i agree with Brad... Patrick sounds so goooood
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 16 November 2017 04:24 (eight years ago)
oh yeah also the drums on the bridge. idk there are many things that would annoy me about the song that are kinda destabilized by the melody
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 16 November 2017 05:31 (eight years ago)
only song from this cycle i think sucks is "champion" which is just "centuries" stuck in a tar pit
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 16 November 2017 05:40 (eight years ago)
having a few months distance from it "young & menace" fucking ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuules
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 16 November 2017 05:42 (eight years ago)
"Y&M" is the only one I kinda like for just being insanely weird
― Simon H., Thursday, 16 November 2017 15:29 (eight years ago)
actually “hold me tight or don’t” is a jam
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Sunday, 10 December 2017 17:25 (eight years ago)

― maura, Monday, 11 December 2017 17:28 (eight years ago)

i'll stop wearing black when they make a darker colorrrrr
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 11 January 2018 17:38 (eight years ago)
the “straight to hell”/“paper planes” bite in the chord progression is so good
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 11 January 2018 17:58 (eight years ago)
this is a very me opinion, but this is the best of the post-hiatus records i think
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 January 2018 15:24 (eight years ago)
I suspect this is going to be a very lonely experience for you cause that latest song does nothing for me either beyond "I'll stop wearing black when they make a darker color"
― Simon H., Thursday, 18 January 2018 15:57 (eight years ago)
... ok man
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 January 2018 16:36 (eight years ago)
maybe you’ll be the one who’s lonely SIMON*takes lunch & sits at Brad’s table*

― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 January 2018 17:32 (eight years ago)
loli def would like a Patrick tho
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 18 January 2018 17:49 (eight years ago)
also is it just me or is Pete’s hairline receding?
He's like 10°F from Neil Hamburger.
The video's awesome. The song is better than the last few, I guess? Guess we'll see tomorrow how this all shakes out.
― how's life, Thursday, 18 January 2018 18:02 (eight years ago)
Yeah this is very enjoyable record. Nothing quite as straightforwardly catchy as some of their other more recent stuff, but I think it'll hold up better.
― husked, tonal wails (irrational), Thursday, 18 January 2018 19:49 (eight years ago)
heads up that the tracklist on spotify and apple music is in the wrong order (which is also, oddly, the order my promo was in). i much prefer the actual sequence
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 19 January 2018 05:20 (eight years ago)
good to know i cant wait to listen :D :D
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 19 January 2018 06:08 (eight years ago)
That video clip is super distracting

― Simon H., Friday, 19 January 2018 14:17 (eight years ago)
yep
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 19 January 2018 14:18 (eight years ago)
wtf
― Simon H., Friday, 19 January 2018 14:18 (eight years ago)
the corrected tracklist makes sense to me "stay frosty" is kinda weird as track 3 but is a storming opener
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kqSj_BKuUc
for some reason they only uploaded the clean version of this song to youtube
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 19 January 2018 14:22 (eight years ago)
anyway as usual with nu-FOB album tracks >>>>>> singles, thank god (speaking of which, lol at all the religious sounds/imagery)
― Simon H., Friday, 19 January 2018 14:23 (eight years ago)
"bishop's knife trick" is mayyyyyyybe their best closer
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 19 January 2018 14:25 (eight years ago)
enhhhh the closer was the best thing on the last one so I'm not at all ready to say that
― Simon H., Friday, 19 January 2018 14:27 (eight years ago)
i'm right simon
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 19 January 2018 14:27 (eight years ago)
Man this is reaaaaally good! Excitingly soLike it’s not Folie ~amazing~ but there’s really no skippable tracks on this for me so far. American Psycho was v patchy & took me a while to warm up, so it’s good to be hooked in from the get go again. Maybe closer to Saves Rock N Roll? anyway i’ve gone through this twice already today, no signs of stoppingLove Patrick’s singing on Heaven’s Gate
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 19 January 2018 22:07 (eight years ago)
why is it rearranged on streaming services? i noticed a similar thing happened with 21 savage's album last year, but then it seemed like it was because of which songs were getting the most plays right off the bat to inflate full-album playthroughs. is this going to start becoming a thing?
― austinb, Saturday, 20 January 2018 02:30 (eight years ago)
hmm, never mind, i found this tweet from pete.
No no. It’s a long story why it’s going to be wrong in iTunes for a few weeks- it’s just how their system ingested the songs we already put out.— pw (@petewentz) January 14, 2018
― austinb, Saturday, 20 January 2018 02:31 (eight years ago)
#petetweet
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 20 January 2018 03:10 (eight years ago)
it is extremely frustrating trying to tell anyone that this band is good
(audience: "well brad then they should make better music")
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 22:30 (eight years ago)
i am totally obsessed with this record and i think it's def their best since folie, someone pls talk to me about it lol
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Saturday, 27 January 2018 23:47 (eight years ago)
I wish I liked it as much. I do think it's better than AB/AP but I kinda long for the (relatively) spacious sound of SRAR. and I still hate "Champion" and "Hold Me Tight Or Don't" a lot. and "Wilson" sounds a bit like "YOLO" to me lol
"Heaven's Gate" and "Church" make a v nice pairing and are definitely right up there with their best material
― Simon H., Saturday, 27 January 2018 23:57 (eight years ago)
thinking Stump should do a devotional r&b followup to Soul Punk
― Simon H., Sunday, 28 January 2018 00:07 (eight years ago)
yeah I would love him to an album of slow soul covers
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 January 2018 00:49 (eight years ago)
Gave into this despite actively disliking all the pre-release songs. Skipped to the first track I hadn't heard, supposed album opener Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea (track listing still not updated on Spotify). "Are you smelling that shit? Are you smelling that shit?" I don't want to smell that shit, Patrick.
