The first two songs rank among the best one-two punches I've heard in modern music.

The live videos where they do a busking performance of select tracks from this album are priceless.
― Week of Wonders (Ross), Friday, 10 November 2017 14:49 (eight years ago)
“Let Me Know”
― michaellambert, Friday, 10 November 2017 15:38 (eight years ago)

― monotony, Saturday, 11 November 2017 10:06 (eight years ago)
Let Me Know is the standout
― ufo, Saturday, 11 November 2017 11:48 (eight years ago)
Movie Star or Let Me Know but what a great album and I wish she was interested in doing stuff like this still
― boxedjoy, Saturday, 11 November 2017 19:53 (eight years ago)
"movie star" would be my #2, probably. goosebump inducing
― brimstead, Saturday, 11 November 2017 20:20 (eight years ago)
it is absolutely fabulous and i am sick and tired of people sleeping on it!!
i've always avoided this band bc their name makes them sound like a company that makes pencil erasers but i'll check it out!
― sleepingbag, Saturday, 11 November 2017 20:52 (eight years ago)
oh lol it's a person. well point stands
― sleepingbag, Saturday, 11 November 2017 20:56 (eight years ago)

― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 11 November 2017 21:23 (eight years ago)
i liked the last murphy record but never think to check her other stuff out. maybe it's time
― imago, Saturday, 11 November 2017 22:08 (eight years ago)
This album is her career peak, imo, including her Moloko years.
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 11 November 2017 22:16 (eight years ago)
i prefer statues and ruby blue, but only slightly
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 11 November 2017 22:24 (eight years ago)
I'm blasting "Movie Star" at the moment.

You'll be directorAnd I'll be a movie star
― dorsalstop, Thursday, 16 November 2017 20:28 (eight years ago)
For years I would have gone with the title track, but recently I've been drawn to Tell Everybody. The chorus is one of her best vocal performances and I really love those stabs of strings in the second verse. It's very early Eurythmics. Primitive is also a contender. I could pick almost anything here as this album truly is perfect.
Statues is my second favourite Murphy related record. It was ridiculously ignored when it came out.
― kitchen person, Friday, 17 November 2017 05:15 (eight years ago)
kitchen, i'm a big fan of that closing vocal on "Tell Everybody" - "I almost remember your face, but it's fading, it's fading fast" and how the vocals are chopped-up on the outro
― Week of Wonders (Ross), Friday, 17 November 2017 05:19 (eight years ago)
Statues is my favourite, followed by Hairless Toys
― ufo, Friday, 17 November 2017 05:58 (eight years ago)

― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 11 February 2018 03:32 (eight years ago)
