i've just had email from Izzy Royal who says he can (obviously) supply us with a copy of the coronation street thing. isn't the internet great 8)

(failing that, or for those people collecting the set, there's the 7" and 12" available here http://uk.geocities.com/[email protected]/index.htm (6 and 10 quid respectively, plus postage))

no sign of Revelino cd (081) i ordered and no reply to the grumpy email asking where it is. isn't the internet dreadful?

mp3 version of 126_Dead_Leaves (which did arrive safely this morning). replacement for the m4a version that i can't get to work anymore.

bit of a roller coaster for you, koogs? Dan Butt and matthew hodge both have the Revelino and offered to share. Sorry you're out the 79p (so far).

patita (patita), Monday, 28 November 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

koogs
- checked out that link for Coronation Street - couldn't see it on their catalogue so I've e-mailed them.

Incidentally, I'd love to know how you got mail from Izzy Royal - as far as I know he is not a real person, just a name used to front the band.

Speaking of unreal people, for those who remember a certain stuttering square headed virtual TV presenter, the Coronation Street single was featured on the Max Headroom show during the eighties...

Finally downloading the torrent now. Hooray!

Jimmy Fausto: it's a trackerless torrent, and as I understand it only the Azureus client supports that at the moment. Luckily, there's a version for OS X: http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

You may also need to fiddle with your firewall settings to get it to connect successfully. Email me if you need help.

retort pouch (retort pouch), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 02:35 (twenty years ago)

I just sent both of you guys an email .. I did a nontrackerless (ie tracker) torrent too. I was going to wait to see if you got it to work before posting it here.. But here it is:
http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1L4L0KIFPP3FZ03XYKTAO78VF4

anyway, glad you got the other one to work .....

D.I.Y. U.N.K.L.E. (dave225.3), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 02:38 (twenty years ago)

D.I.Y. U.N.K.L.E.: You are a golden god! I'm downloading the trackerless torrent just fine now so I'll probably stay on that one, but I did a quick test of the nontrackerless/trackerful torrent you just posted, and everything seems to be in order - I could find a seeder (you, presumably) and data started coming down successfully, so everything should be coo' for folks who don't happen to use Azureus. Thank you!

retort pouch (retort pouch), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 02:53 (twenty years ago)

Thanks for testing that..! Sorry it was such a pain. And thanks to TRG for letting me slsk all of his files to do this.

D.I.Y. U.N.K.L.E. (dave225.3), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 02:59 (twenty years ago)

i too got an e-mail from (someone who pretended to be?) izzy royal via ilxor. it said something about us (ilm) leaving his record coronation street off peel's list and that he/they was proud that the single was in the box. very weird. i don't understand what he/they are talking about. koogs, are you sure that izzy royal is going to offer you the single with the permission to post it here?

alex in mainhattan (alex63), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

> checked out that link for Coronation Street - couldn't see it on their catalogue so I've e-mailed them.

more precisely the 7" is here:
http://uk.geocities.com/[email protected]/prod01.htm and search for 'coronation street'. izzy said he had 'a couple' in his basement, so maybe he'd be willing to sell some on. i'll ask him if he replies to my last email.

> Incidentally, I'd love to know how you got mail from Izzy Royal - as far as I know he is not a real person, just a name used to front the band.

he just emailed me, probably as a result of seeing my post above about wanting a better recording of his single.

his exact words were "I'm going to get one in to a digital format soon and then let's see what we can do about a better quality sound." and that he's hoping for the label to re-release it.

RECALL!! RECALL!!

Um, on my playthrough, I've just heared the Idle Race's "Here we go round the Lemon Tree", but I'm certain that's the exact same version as on my old MFP album "Fire Brigade" by the Move.

Are these not different?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 10:30 (twenty years ago)

Hi all,

Here is The Squirrels' Alone Again (Naturally)

http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2EEDJ5SKXYZGY1AFDSCG3P6JVX

and Revelino's Step on High (hope no-one feels I stole their thunder!)

Milton S Poncho, Tuesday, 29 November 2005 11:18 (twenty years ago)

the one's a cover of the other (which you probably know):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idle_Race
but i'm not sure which one we have.

i have the idle race version taken from one of the shows, possibly two copies:
20030218.html: The Idle Race - 'Here We Go Around The Lemon Tree (7")' (Liberty)
20040902.html: The Idle Race - 'Here We Go Round The Lemon Tree' (LP - Light At The End Of The Road) (See For Miles Records)

i can check tonight.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 11:25 (twenty years ago)

actually i posted one of the above on oct 27th. mike diva posted the a and the b *together* the very next day (i think i used his copy as it was better quality). i'd say we have the right one.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 11:29 (twenty years ago)

Well, I'd state my reputation on this:

That's the same version on the Move's "Fire Brigade" album.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

Although, I should say:

I have the wrong version.

Could someone repost Mike Diva's one?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

Roy Wood was sitting at the next table to us in our local fish restaurant last Friday night... I could have asked!

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 11:40 (twenty years ago)

listening to it again it does sound different to the one i'm more familiar with from hearing it at home. will repost the one from the show.

ok, idea stolen from someone way upthread. cd cover and tray art:

http://s53.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2ZSSUJFDVEG1Z1AAQB04FRCBRX (2 files, 5M)

using the channel 4 press release photos from Domestic Empire's blog (cheers) and the font stolen from the tv program. 300 dpi. (oh, just checked and it was DE who had the cover idea as well. cheers)

Very smart looking inlays, koogs - nice job

retort pouch (retort pouch), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 02:20 (twenty years ago)

um, the cover thing seems to be a bit short but i'm guessing that's the printer doing that as the png is exactly 120x120mm and the tray doesn't suffer from the same problem (being oriented the other way). would be nice to get it all on one A4 sheet but it would mean doing away with the picture on the inside, which i like. also toyed with the idea of an inner tray picture for use with those transparent trays or double cases but couldn't lay my hands on another decent picture in the time available last night. the only difficult bit was the spines...

RECALL - RECALL

Um, the 060 B side "Revelation Dub" version of "Sipple Out Deh" is in fact the b-side of "War in a Babylon". I know they are the same song, just not the same version.

I know it's unlikely that anyone will easily find this, and it was nice to hear this b-side again anyway.

Just saying.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 1 December 2005 10:08 (twenty years ago)

i can't quite parse your sentence mark. is the revelation dub wrong or sipple out deh?

it's on Gemm btw, http://www.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?&a_refno=GML757867382

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 1 December 2005 11:53 (twenty years ago)

Sipple is right.

Revolution dub is actually War dub.

Have now got the Christmas Record Collector edition with the John Peel Box article. I have just bought a Charlie Feathers Acetate for Tongue Tied Jill. The actual vinyl is valued by RC between £450 & £2000, so in theory, the acetate should be worth more. I think I might just have made a particularly fortunate purchase.
