That Focus one is extremely Tim & Eric Morning Meditations

Evan, Wednesday, 27 September 2017 20:30 (eight years ago)

i still think the original few were the funniest things i've ever seen on the net.

piscesx, Wednesday, 27 September 2017 20:34 (eight years ago)

My favorites are "Kenny G and Michael Bolton Shred"
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7P6QYWqRxww

Also the Hall and Oates Maneater. I have to take that one in small doses, it's so good.

calstars, Wednesday, 27 September 2017 21:54 (eight years ago)

St Sanders is probably the most accomplished (was he not also the original shred video maker?) but the Beach Boys' I Get Around and Johnny and June Carter Cash's Jackson both still leave me gasping for air

doug watson, Thursday, 28 September 2017 14:37 (eight years ago)

the Elvis one too, that one is brilliant

frogbs, Thursday, 28 September 2017 14:42 (eight years ago)

My only issue is that the original song isn't much less ridiculous than this version.

Truth.

Both sound like a bit of a rough patch at a jamband festival.

I finally found something redeeming in 'Take On Me":

The best shreds are definitely for me the guitar-heavy mainstream rock/pop-rock - the Focus tune seems about the absolute limit. Any further and we're going down the Captain Beefheart shreds route.

Had to close my door from laughing at the drum pad with the "Damn!" and air horn sounds.

Millennial Whoop, wanna fight about it? (Phil D.), Thursday, 8 February 2018 18:49 (eight years ago)

Yeah, the air horns did me in.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 8 February 2018 19:04 (eight years ago)

Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Thursday, 8 February 2018 19:05 (eight years ago)

That's just the funniest thing, but perhaps the funniest thing to the fewest people for the most specific reasons.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 8 February 2018 19:07 (eight years ago)

^^^^^

doug watson, Thursday, 8 February 2018 20:29 (eight years ago)

Given the hysterical response to that video, it's clear that I should continue to keep my Beaterator tracks to myself.

I'm very active in the pegasus community (Old Lunch), Thursday, 8 February 2018 23:12 (eight years ago)

I was curious enough to go watch the original video, and in only made the shred one funnier.

frogbs, Friday, 9 February 2018 19:21 (eight years ago)

I went back and watched the Eddie Van Halen one, which might have been the first or one of the first I ever saw, and it still kills me.

I thought this was a St Sanders esque redub with hilariously bad vocals but...nope. actually Vince Neill.

It was a treat to see Questlove discover and fall down the *SHREDS* rabbit hole a few weeks back, he was posting tons of videos on his Instagram story.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 26 November 2019 18:07 (six years ago)

H and I still often quote the Bohemian Rhapsody vid: "It's my bad cool dad!" "WE MIGHT BE HAVING FIIIISH" etc. I think sometimes we don't even remember where it came from when we're saying it, these are just things that we say.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Tuesday, 26 November 2019 20:49 (six years ago)

I hadn't seen the Celine Dion 'My Heart Will Go On' one until recently but my god there is one particular moment in there where I'm pretty sure I laughed so hard I ruptured something.

War Crimes Tribunal of the Network Stars (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 26 November 2019 20:56 (six years ago)

Vince Neil is without a doubt the worst singer I have ever seen perform.
