The Blue Nile ❤❤❤— Jessie Ware (@JessieWare) September 30, 2012
― willem, Wednesday, 13 September 2017 14:12 (eight years ago)
didn't they write together before Tough Love but nothing made the album? that's great news
― ufo, Wednesday, 13 September 2017 14:37 (eight years ago)
Just found this from 2013 where she mentions revealing her new single co-written with Paul.
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/the-week-in-music-jessie-ware-is-still-pulling-all-the-strings-8970990.html
One of the results from my Google search also took me to The 1975 thread on here where someone mentioned that she was the one who introduced Matt to The Blue Nile. Good work Jessie!
― kitchen person, Wednesday, 13 September 2017 14:47 (eight years ago)
oh the song she performed then was 'True Believers' so it must be the same one
― ufo, Wednesday, 13 September 2017 15:27 (eight years ago)
Whoa @ Blue Nile collab

imo this is her best album though it won't set this board on fire in the same way devotion did, prob bc this board is v different now and also she doesn't really occupy a connective space between dance music and quiet storm anymore. but like every track is good to excellent and rewards attention, even the sheeran track, again, which is mercifully the final song on the record and the arrangement takes it to such a cool, unexpected place that i don't mind that it's the same circular melody sheeran generates automatically/unconsciously whenever he picks up a guitar. paul buchanan track is probably exactly what a modern blue nile song would sound like; i find it crushing

I'm excited to hear the live band tracks with Chris Dave and Pino, although on 'Selfish Love' they sound tastefully anonymous.
― change display name (Jordan), Monday, 16 October 2017 17:43 (eight years ago)
Buying this on release day, and will again if there's a bonus track reissue next year. Good to hear it feels like her best yet.

Ugh, I need this album now.
― self-clowning oven (Murgatroid), Monday, 16 October 2017 17:56 (eight years ago)
oh you can listen to "sam," the sheeran track, on streaming services now. you'll get what i mean
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Monday, 16 October 2017 18:08 (eight years ago)
God is that Sheeran track awful. A slow generic ballad with a Jessie Ware on sleeping pills. What happened to her? This has absolutely nothing to do with the Jessie Ware I knew. As if she had aged by 30 years from one day to the other. Where is the spark and sexiness gone?
― Ich bin kein Berliner (alex in mainhattan), Monday, 16 October 2017 18:49 (eight years ago)
lol ok alex
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Monday, 16 October 2017 18:49 (eight years ago)
i'm sure this was not your intention but to listen to a woman performing pop music and remark initially on her seeming age and the absence of spark and sexiness is... not great, imo. besides the other songs on this record (i.e. not the closer) contain what you seek
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Monday, 16 October 2017 18:56 (eight years ago)
Yeah I'm on board with all the pre-release tracks so far save for "Sam" which to me has the air of Sheeran writing his usual stream-of-consciousness gush over the melody to "Fields of Gold". But I've really liked the art direction generally for this era (the videos have included some serious interior design porn) and I'm confident it will be an enjoyable listen on the whole
― monotony, Monday, 16 October 2017 22:25 (eight years ago)
“sam” is great. pino palladino on bass.
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 17 October 2017 01:39 (eight years ago)
Sam is giving me Nana/She Lays Down vibes. I'm hoping the penultimate song with Paul Buchanan can act as the Paris of the album and be the closer that the album deserves.
― kitchen person, Tuesday, 17 October 2017 17:49 (eight years ago)
let me reassure you kitchen person: it is
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Tuesday, 17 October 2017 17:52 (eight years ago)
Can't wait!

I like how much she swears

lmao her ed sheeran answer. lmaoooooo
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 19 October 2017 18:53 (eight years ago)
that was a great watch. shes funny
― Spottie, Thursday, 19 October 2017 18:55 (eight years ago)
when i saw her live i think everyone in the crowd was expecting someone more self-serious, but she was exactly like she is in that video.
― nomar, Thursday, 19 October 2017 18:58 (eight years ago)
Agreed on the over/under love. Much respect for backing her friend.
― the body of a spider... (scampering alpaca), Thursday, 19 October 2017 19:00 (eight years ago)
My favourite bit is, "I'm also on the soundtrack".
― kitchen person, Thursday, 19 October 2017 22:20 (eight years ago)
that's what she's like live in between songs
just a naturally funny and down to earth person
― Number None, Thursday, 19 October 2017 22:28 (eight years ago)
Yeah another echo to the "she's like that live" brigade.
Saw her on devotion tour, she's so classic - can't wait to hear the new one

ALBUM OF THE YEAR
― joshywinty (josh), Friday, 20 October 2017 05:17 (eight years ago)
yeah "Love To Love" might even be my favourite of the unreleased songs! that or the obvious banger "Your Domino"
― monotony, Friday, 20 October 2017 05:18 (eight years ago)
"love to love" sounded like the best song on the album to me yeah
― J0rdan S., Friday, 20 October 2017 05:19 (eight years ago)
Your Domino is the one. Definitely should have been the lead single.
― kitchen person, Friday, 20 October 2017 05:49 (eight years ago)
hyped for this, definitely going to get the deluxe edition. the bonus tracks on Tough Love were incredible i thought.
― nomar, Friday, 20 October 2017 05:53 (eight years ago)
If "Your Domino" had been the lead single I think there would've been enormous disappointment once the album itself arrived as nothing else even approaches its pace.
― monotony, Friday, 20 October 2017 05:56 (eight years ago)
Yeah, you're right. It is a one off.
Just finished my first listen and I'm really surprised how much I enjoyed this. I loved Midnight, but the other singles didn't grab me that much. Even though it's her most mellow record, I found it so much more instant than Tough Love which took a long time to click (there's a couple of songs that still haven't).
My main complaint is that there isn't enough Paul Buchanan. It's a gorgeous song, I just wanted to hear his presence more.
― kitchen person, Friday, 20 October 2017 06:21 (eight years ago)
who knew that a song like "your domino" could exist in these times! pure bliss.
― joshywinty (josh), Friday, 20 October 2017 06:29 (eight years ago)
right there with you re: the lack of paul buchanan
― joshywinty (josh), Friday, 20 October 2017 06:30 (eight years ago)
Finish What We Started is gorgeous, my favourite on first listen
― ufo, Friday, 20 October 2017 06:49 (eight years ago)
Thoughtful of her to have stuck the Sheeran collaboration right at the end this time.
― Matt DC, Friday, 20 October 2017 08:28 (eight years ago)
like i said
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 20 October 2017 08:33 (eight years ago)
“your domino” is great obv but at the moment i am very high on “stay awake wait for me”
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 20 October 2017 08:37 (eight years ago)
oh wow the bonus tracks are wonderful
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 20 October 2017 13:00 (eight years ago)
i was like "the only flaw with this record is nothing (except 'first time' maybe) is really on the level of 'champagne kisses'" and then i heard "love to love"
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 20 October 2017 13:03 (eight years ago)
y'all need to stop
― morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 20 October 2017 13:04 (eight years ago)
some interesting collaborators on this... "slow me down" was done w/ the guy who did "love on the brain," "finish what we started" w/ john ryan & julien bunetta of one direction fame
― J0rdan S., Friday, 20 October 2017 13:59 (eight years ago)
last of the true believers was co-written & produced by two of the maccabees??
