About to post clip from Cap - who started this thread playing some unreleased Amorf. No idea what this is, but I probably should

I am finding good stuff on the RA Tracks page this week, but it's a pain because they haven't implemented an auto-play feature so you have to keep tabbing back to start the next song.

Anyway, I always like this kind of pop/techno crossover stuff, and there's a good new track by some Norwegians called SASSY 009 which maybe belongs here: https://soundcloud.com/sassy009/pretty-baby-3

In the same vein, this came up on my Hype Machine feed, and it's a cut above what else I've heard from this group: https://bluehawaii.bandcamp.com/track/no-one-like-you

Oh and that D. Tiffany EP upthread is so good! I missed the chance to pick it up on wax but the label told me on Twitter that it'll be getting re-pressed soon.

AFACT, not mentioned upthread, but Mori-Ra's The Brasserie Heroique Edits Part 3 are the best thing ever, for those who like afro-edits. Honestly don't know where else this would slot in on ILM.

I dig that one. Still could use some kind of melody on top of it, though...

Ninos du Brasil is back. Vida Eterna is a vampirism concept album, but it bears strong resemblance to the last one, which had an "escaping from an ancient entity following us through the jungle" theme.

i highly recommend people seek out far out radio systems' "dream the dreams of dreamers" EP on curle

the late great, Wednesday, 11 October 2017 07:38 (eight years ago)

"vaquita" and "spheres" are the #1 and #2 jams but "jane goodall" is pretty okay too

just read there is a new Terrence Dixon album in July. I'm really up for that.

Yep, it's kind of amazing and bizarre. The tracks are all pretty short too -- this is a triple LP that never even came close to outstaying its welcome. Spectral, dissonant, trippy, hypnotic.

everything old is new again ... s.o.n.s. return with an acid breakbeat stunner ... paid $20 for this and I DO NOT REGRET IT

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw9dRbgfWfY

the late great, Sunday, 15 October 2017 01:40 (eight years ago)

I didn't realize S.O.N.S was an old project, though had only been around a couple of years! Is it an alias for someone?

saer, Sunday, 15 October 2017 02:21 (eight years ago)

oh no, i just meant the old acid breaks style is new again

afaik s.o.n.s. is new to the game :-)

the late great, Sunday, 15 October 2017 03:28 (eight years ago)

klockworks 20 is a+++

map, Sunday, 15 October 2017 06:41 (eight years ago)

it reminds me of the good kompakt total compilations in terms of overall quality. also something about the sound and its relationship to techno reminds me of kompakt's relationship to minimal house. it sharpens and expands it.

map, Sunday, 15 October 2017 06:48 (eight years ago)

an example is "perdita" by jay clarke, which is a really good minimal wave / punk track dressed in the finest techno outerwear.

map, Sunday, 15 October 2017 06:52 (eight years ago)

lots of gorgeousness and distilled funkiness going on. there's something about a good techno track that is basically funky imo. it's hard to my finger on it, like it's not just a good 808 clave pattern, it can be how the frequencies of everything land. an example of not-funky and kind of bad techno is this new atomTM release. the samples sounded promising but there's just no sense of funk at all, the tracks are ponderous and overstuffed and they lose their impact and fall flat imo.

map, Sunday, 15 October 2017 06:59 (eight years ago)

oh, i heard ben ufo drop the new joe "tail lift" and it's dope as fuck

I've not been that impressed by the Call Super tracks that I've heard but his collaboration on Hessle with Beatrice Dillon is ace (her solo stuff is fantastic btw)

the a-side of that b dillon / call super collab is even better

the late great, Sunday, 15 October 2017 22:59 (eight years ago)

i like the a side too. b side i wasn't sure about tbh. some of this album by the mole is growing on me.
