2. Capsule - Megalopolis (Capsule's (first?) album of 2006, FRUITS CLiPPER is all about defining electro-disco for the neo-Shibuya set. It's probably as derivative as a freestyle mic session with K-Federline but counterbalanced by the unit's all-bases-covered talent. Dreamin is absolutely sublime French house pop carried by Toshiko's sweet vocalising, a grinding bass and carefree rock breakdowns, like DB Boulevard with a serrated edge. Megalopolis is my favourite straight-dancer of the record - despite the fierce ADD rave of CrazEEE Skyhopper - very much what the Chemical Brothers could have done after remixing Kylie)
3. Overrocket - Magic Parasol (And years before FRUITS CLiPPER, there's Overrocket's Pop Music, which does exactly that, weaving song driven electro dancers - the unsurpassable Listen And Repeat was a highlight of my last DJ set - to minimal, click ballads. Which makes this the oddest thing on the record because it's 100% chiptune; a gorgeous dance song composed entirely of 8-bit beats and pieces. Any Nintendo nostalgic will spot the reference in the title straightaway)
4. Refely - Hang On (Hard rock with curveballs. Every time the song deviates from the central riff, the passages are never the same, trying out soft rock, laptop melodies and electro with hooks that will make Brian Higgins sell his farmhouse)
