they're a cryptic band though and i don't really trust them to follow through on it

i'm finding myself really moved by "in the water". this album is basically reminding me why i was obsessed with this band in high school

this album gets better and better with every listen. so many unexpected turns

That opening to "Waste" sounds so much like The Cranberries' "Zombie" it throws me off every time

this album is so richly varied. the flawless shoegaze of "no control"; "desert", which basically sounds like jesse doing a stephen malkmus song; and of course morrissey all over.

my current favorite moment is the bridge to "could never be heaven"

i don't usually get that stoked about live concerts even for bands i love but this is one of the albums where i need to see them touring this material

largely because i need a socially acceptable outlet to singalong to some of these choruses in public

i have a new favorite every night. this album gives and gives. listening to new music from this band (my favorite in high school/early college 10 years ago) when it's THIS GOOD fills me with a unique sort of nostalgia. or a sense of completeness/closure, idk

first time I listened to the intro to SF I was afraid Jesse had gone full Tom Delonge

and then the first few strums of Can't Get Out had me thinking he'd gone full Jeff Mangum

jesse is an obsessive NMH fan, if you heard something it's quite possibly intentional

The show was amazing tonight but two notes 1) Jessie clearly hates deja ententu only played two songs from it and before sic transit he sarcastically said “the hit song” 2) I think he’s super depressed? I mean the new material is bleak af he’s playing lots of daisy not really engaging with the audience lots of dark imagery of soldiers in the background. But great show. But I hope he’s okay.
