Not that I don't like both of those albums, I do. But I also like the Strawberry Alarm Clock.

(I actually prefer the Strawberry Alarm Clock, but I am willing to chalk that up to personal preference. What I'm unwilling to chalk up to personal preference is the idea that Van Dyke Parks or the U.S.A. are in any really obvious way better.)

A Date With the Everly Bros. is a solid record

oh man 60s everly brothers records are so solid. seriously. i've never actually heard a bad record by them. for 60s: It's Everly Time, A Date With The Everly Brothers, The Everly Brothers Sing, Roots.

some of the 60s records are themed . i don't listen to those as much. but they're cool. like the country hits one. and rock 'n' soul. where they do popular songs of the 50s and 60s.

i would say go with Its Everly Time and A Date With...

they can be so much fun and then they break your heart. so beautiful. and the production is always amazing.

i have a beautiful mono copy of Gone Gone Gone here at the store and I just put it on. I like that record a lot. "Lonely Island" is so beautiful. it's so worth getting clean original mono copies of their early records.

This 60s list is good. But Mississippi John Hurt "Today" is a huge omission. He is a giant of music that has yet to be discovered by a larger audience.

I think people don't realize how great the first two Joan Baez albums are. I didn't until I bought these beautiful copies of them in a thrift store a couple of years ago.

Grace Slick as a singer is not even anywhere near in the same league as Joan Baez. Grace just has a big voice. But unless I'm wrong we're arguing this point w/a dude who'd call Lou Reed a good singer so let's not worry too much

With so many shithole people in the world of entertainment, I really respect the way Joan Baez has conducted her life, we should all aspire to do as much. I think she has a lovely voice, she didn't blend super well with my man Bob but that's no crime. Not my particular jam but there's always been something about the vitriol pointed at her that is Yoko-esque imo.
