I was watching that programme about Wales and was really amused at how much of my record collection kept turning up in it

That track, someone on Reddit claims it sounds more like Tycho than it does BoC (so... Tycho probably sounds a lot like early BoC)

Something about the filter in the drums sounds kind of generic for them, and the vinyl crackle effect also doesn't seem like something they'd do. But maybe that's why it wasn't released under their name. 50p on it being a very well done pastiche.

the stuff it's being compared to - tycho, the twoism mailing list comps - they don't sound as much like boc to me as this does. certainly as many fakes as boc fans have heard i'd be inclined to go under the assumption that anything that sounds like boc isn't. all i can say is that it sounds like boc circa "music has the right to children" and it's a great listen.

ROYGBIV now reminds me as much of the time and place I first heard MHTRTC as it does some indistinct moment in 1976.

I live in California and the fact that the smell of campfire smoke now has a sinister undertone is the most Boards of Canada thing ever. Tomorrow's Harvest indeed.

Found it yeah, Stefan Zauner, Discogs says 1978, it sounds exactly like something from Peter Gabriel II, even the production.

I've always been a stan of these guys but have never been much interested in remixes by anyone, ever. The ones I've caught on spotify are a fucking revolution, esp in observation that the source material I found to be sonic duds. Intentional choices, if I want to give the elusive duo a bit of ego. I don't mind.

I did not know this. It's going to be re-released with the track reinstated, it just came up on spotify - *chef's kiss*

I don't think XYZ was ever on the commercially released EP, not even for a short time. Discogs says there are like 5 handmade CDRs with the track which were made by the band themselves.

I've never heard XYZ without John Peel's introduction for it. Has one of the greatest BoC intros/buildups I've heard this side of Dayvan Cowboy, but the release sadly isn't there for me. Still a solid track and worth hearing again though.

Finally got round to listening to this (in fact I still am) and yes, it's wonderful! Perfect for today - spring outside, so i've got the windows open, and it's perfect for this sort of airy quarantine.
