Mordy, Friday, 18 August 2017 20:10 (eight years ago)

extremely amy dunne voice (slothroprhymes), Friday, 18 August 2017 20:47 (eight years ago)

loving this so far, 2 listens in and not ready to talk specifics yet really.

Spottie, Friday, 18 August 2017 21:04 (eight years ago)

Man, the run of Same Logic -> 137 -> Out of Mana is so great.

devvvine, Saturday, 19 August 2017 00:26 (eight years ago)

this is on tidal and apple music (but not yet on spotify) for anyone holding out for streaming

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 19 August 2017 15:31 (eight years ago)

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Saturday, 19 August 2017 21:48 (eight years ago)

"same logic" has like.,.at least two choruses

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 19 August 2017 23:24 (eight years ago)

i'm really enjoying this, the sustained eeriness feels very the moon & antarctica

ufo, Sunday, 20 August 2017 01:33 (eight years ago)

That's a good comaprison actually - it even shares some of the same folksy DNA

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Sunday, 20 August 2017 01:33 (eight years ago)

lonesome/moon-era modest mouse i feel are models here down to the record's length and how it's probably a good record to drive at night to

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Sunday, 20 August 2017 01:50 (eight years ago)

I can attest to that it also sounds very, very good on long walks in the city.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Sunday, 20 August 2017 02:44 (eight years ago)

jesse was a big modest mouse fan back when i used to follow BN

k3vin k., Sunday, 20 August 2017 03:22 (eight years ago)

some of the guitar parts on the devil & god felt very modest mouse but this album goes further in that direction

same logic/teeth through to in the water is a fantastic run of tracks

ufo, Sunday, 20 August 2017 04:46 (eight years ago)

having a hard time deciding if maybe this is my fave BN album... this vs Devil and God is a classic higher highs vs. greater consistency battle

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Sunday, 20 August 2017 05:00 (eight years ago)

wait, which album matches which description for you?

rip van wanko, Sunday, 20 August 2017 05:05 (eight years ago)

new new one is def more consistent

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Sunday, 20 August 2017 12:39 (eight years ago)

imo this is devil and god if every song were "you won't know"

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Sunday, 20 August 2017 13:52 (eight years ago)

The only thing that makes me sad about this album is that it doesn't seem like Jesse Lacey's head has become any easier a place to inhabit in the intervening years

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Sunday, 20 August 2017 15:28 (eight years ago)

my barber was very into the new album. he played a few songs -- very TDAG

k3vin k., Monday, 21 August 2017 23:44 (eight years ago)

pox brand new

1996

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 24 August 2017 00:00 (eight years ago)

i think "can't get it out" is going to be on mine tho

k3vin k., Monday, 28 August 2017 03:42 (eight years ago)

"no control" is like brand new doing the pains of being pure at heart

(it's awesome obv)

k3vin k., Monday, 28 August 2017 04:23 (eight years ago)

not sure how i feel about "451" yet

k3vin k., Monday, 28 August 2017 04:30 (eight years ago)

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 28 August 2017 20:05 (eight years ago)

but what if it is a second album (!!!)

Mordy, Monday, 28 August 2017 23:53 (eight years ago)

three weeks pass...

apparently the countdown was a hoax

can anyone explain why wikipedia says "planned disbandment" and the RS review says it's their last album? i haven't been able to find any info on that

just another (diamonddave85), Tuesday, 19 September 2017 23:45 (eight years ago)

they released shirts last year that said "brand new 2000-2018"

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 September 2017 23:55 (eight years ago)

ahh ok

just another (diamonddave85), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 14:05 (eight years ago)

they're a cryptic band though and i don't really trust them to follow through on it

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:49 (eight years ago)

i'm finding myself really moved by "in the water". this album is basically reminding me why i was obsessed with this band in high school

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 September 2017 03:31 (eight years ago)

and yeah, "batter up"....damn

k3vin k., Sunday, 24 September 2017 03:50 (eight years ago)

this album gets better and better with every listen. so many unexpected turns

k3vin k., Tuesday, 26 September 2017 03:29 (eight years ago)

yeah loving it. still getting to know it.

Spottie, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 04:06 (eight years ago)

That opening to "Waste" sounds so much like The Cranberries' "Zombie" it throws me off every time

Evan R, Wednesday, 27 September 2017 20:18 (eight years ago)

ha!

this album is so richly varied. the flawless shoegaze of "no control"; "desert", which basically sounds like jesse doing a stephen malkmus song; and of course morrissey all over.

my current favorite moment is the bridge to "could never be heaven"

godddddd is dead

k3vin k., Thursday, 28 September 2017 02:16 (eight years ago)

well said

I do love this album but it's so despairing I find myself having to limit my exposure to it somewhat

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Thursday, 28 September 2017 02:21 (eight years ago)

K this is good

flopson, Thursday, 28 September 2017 04:48 (eight years ago)

And Modest Mouse in "Same Logic", and Tool in "137", and Weezer in "No Control"... It's very distracting.

ArchCarrier, Thursday, 28 September 2017 11:41 (eight years ago)

I'm going to have to edit the shit out of all these interludes tagged to the end of a lot of these songs. Wish most of them were their own songs.

Rod Steel (musicfanatic), Saturday, 30 September 2017 00:17 (eight years ago)

i love the unresolved punk song at the end of “no control”

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 30 September 2017 00:44 (eight years ago)

The guitar solo in "137" is the most glorious musical moment of 2017.

can you YSI if you do this? after listening to it for the 20th time theyre really starting to get on my nerves

flopson, Friday, 6 October 2017 19:57 (eight years ago)

You can easily do this yourself with a lossless MP3 editor. The best one I know is MP3DirectCut (Windows only).

ArchCarrier, Saturday, 7 October 2017 06:05 (eight years ago)

ya i could do it on audacity right now tbh i'm just bizy and figured if someone else had already done it

flopson, Saturday, 7 October 2017 20:52 (eight years ago)

the skits are rly cool and creepy the first 20 listens tho

flopson, Saturday, 7 October 2017 20:53 (eight years ago)

yeah i like the "skits" (not sure that's what i'd call them tho)

k3vin k., Saturday, 7 October 2017 20:57 (eight years ago)
