She's playing the Electrical Audio 20th/Hideout Block party in Chicago in September. Seems like she's recorded some stuff over the yrs that hasn't seen the light of day.

a lot of the peel session songs never appeared anywhere else. there was talk of a compilation of those (based on a takedown notice on a website that had shared a bunch of them) but i've not heard anything since.

the prerecorded backing vocals don't really work for me, but otherwise I love it

I'd like to see a compilation of her Peel sessions in their entirety, rather than just the unreleased material. the session with Huun Huur Tu is one of my favorite live performances from any artist

jim white just told me that nina recorded an album with albini and jeff parker. that fabled day has come!

also jim thinking of labels that would want to reissue You Follow Me which has been out of print forever. i told him i thought drag city might be the way to go.

You can get used CDs of it p cheap on Amazon. Vinyl is pricey tho.

is FatCat Records still a thing? went and visited my brother last summer in Hudson, NY and walked by a spot that had a FatCat sign in the window. which was weird. i guess someone from the label moved to Hudson.

Different session. She's done a few different sessions that haven't seen the light of day. I'm excited but until I see a release date I'm not exactly holding my breath. I mean I saw her playing new songs in 2012.

saw xylouris white last night and when he came in the store today i had to ask him about nina. he's really proud of the album they made together and wants to see it get out there again.

It really is her best thing. I love all of Nina's albums, but she and Jim worked so well together.

That’s awful — I feel terrible for Nina, moreso considering Albini’s comments that she’s been dealing with her own health issues. Which I’d never heard about before but might explain her lack of releases this past decade.

It sounds like he’d been her constant companion for a couple decades, so I hope she has strong support around her.

oh probably a lot of reasons, like my focus shifting to club music (my 20s) and subsequent things i heard not having the same bright immediate ring of dogs. i think its probably a good thing as lots of the things i've been enjoying are shaped by subsequent things i've gotten interested in and i don't think i would have really appreciated this music in the same way if i'd heard it when it came out

I miss anticipating her next record a lot, but after all these years, there's also an appeal to the tidiness of six albums so good I cant choose among them, evenly spaced over a specific decade, produced with the same raw sheen, as though there was a Felt-like manifesto she completed.
