She was greeting people and taking pictures with fans afterward. I thought about sticking around to talk to her but a) after doing what she just did, I didn't want to make her talk any more than she had to, and b) I am old and wanted to go home.

Redemptionheart is probably my fave album of last year. Impeccable sequencing and the album has both sides of a coin, the second half is super chill and a great way to go after the euphoric highs of the first. Lilies picks up the momentum but doesn't deliver the beats the way the first half does, and for that it's all the more powerful, and the vocalizations in the track harken back to early dawn (like goldenheart) so that makes me happy!

DAWN (formerly D∆WN/Dawn Richard) recently released a remarkable new single entitled “Jealousy,” shared a new track “Dreamer” as part of Adult Swim’s Singles series, and will embark on a DK3 Danity Kane reunion tour at the end of this month. Today, she announces an intimate and unique support tour experience with New Zealand’s Kimbra later this year, which will feature DAWN reimagining her solo work with nothing but her Moog synthesizer. DAWN’s latest single “Jealousy” is the first track off a new album set for release in early 2019 through Local Action/Our Dawn Entertainment, DAWN’s first solo work released since 2016. Her previously released trilogy of solo records garnered critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Fader, FACT and more. She was also a featured guest vocalist on Dirty Projectors’ latest album. She will be on tour with her former Danity Kane band-mates under the banner DK3 this September/October, and also plays Adult Swim Festival this November, where she has been a curator and designer for the cable channel. As an actress, she was recently featured in the new season of HBO series Insecure, as well as the movies Five Weddings and Kinky, both out this Autumn.

there is a ton going on. extremely into "dreams and converse," which sounds like Classixx without the detachment

<3 the beat on "vultures", lovely vocal performance too … oh wait, "we, diamonds" just came on. This whole section of the record is classic Dawn

OK, all over. An admirably concise album (31 mins!), but lots to chew on.

Yeah I liked the brevity. Her albums tend to density so they can be exhausting in a single sitting. The Rosalia album is ~30 mins too and I think the effect is similar

This is terrific, definitely shorter on the pyrotechnics but it's probably her strongest collection of songs. Disco Dawn definitely the most intriguing of the paths previously not taken here.

this is good and nicely of a piece but i definitely prefer pyrotechnic dawn. not that this is without its flourishes. spaces is the one imo

The disembodied voices on the title track are really quite affecting in a way I can't put my finger on. The Trapgerine Dream backing even more so.
