eric dolphy - in europe vol. 2

i think i have this, at least i think it's vol 2. does it have two group songs and then two solo dolphy? god bless the child and one other?

anyway the one i have is absolutely gorgeous

Domm P))) (M@tt He1ges0n), Thursday, 7 May 2009 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

i think god bless the child is on vol 1? i don't actually have that one. this one is really great too, though. there's some particularly choice dolphy flute playing on two tracks.

once he puts that purple he will become an enemy (omar little), Thursday, 7 May 2009 18:36 (seventeen years ago)

i'm not an expert but so far i have not heard anything dolphy did be not-awesome

Domm P))) (M@tt He1ges0n), Thursday, 7 May 2009 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

i had a copy of OUT THERE in my hands yesterday, but passed. i fucked up, right?

69, Thursday, 7 May 2009 20:17 (seventeen years ago)

i think that is supposed to be pretty classic

Domm P))) (M@tt He1ges0n), Thursday, 7 May 2009 20:24 (seventeen years ago)

nothing to do with this thread other than satisfying the clientele but:

woah someone told me you can get se rogie on youtube.

corps of discovery (schlump), Friday, 8 May 2009 20:01 (seventeen years ago)

69, Friday, 8 May 2009 21:24 (seventeen years ago)

69, Friday, 8 May 2009 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

oops should be a pic of michael hurley's FIRST SONGS on folkways

69, Friday, 8 May 2009 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

how much? i had one of those once. sold it a couple years back when i needed $$ ;_;

Plunge Protection Team, Friday, 8 May 2009 22:04 (seventeen years ago)

check ebay completed listings...

69, Friday, 8 May 2009 22:08 (seventeen years ago)

but i'm lazy! oh ok ... hmm, nice piece! a got a little bit less for mine, but that looks like a little bit better copy (my record was NM but the cover was sort of VG++)

Plunge Protection Team, Friday, 8 May 2009 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

pete will you photocopy the insert for me pretty please? i can at least read along when i listen to my CD ;_;

ian, Friday, 8 May 2009 22:23 (seventeen years ago)

sure!

69, Friday, 8 May 2009 23:12 (seventeen years ago)

that golden triangle 12"?

ha, nuh uh. ebay is off limits pretty much. i am basically perpetually broke, but come in here because mississippi/all the bullshit limited record things allow me to break my own rules, throw caution to the wind and buy things because otherwise i'll never have the chance. i dip in ebay sometimes to narrowly lose out on great drag city t-shirts of the nineties but it's more a payday trip to somewhere in NY for records right now. that hurley seems like a nice thing to own; i really oscillate between thinking of records as possessions (glass half empty), or as vessels for art (glass half full), and michael hurley records really put something out into the room when you play them.

corps of discovery (schlump), Saturday, 9 May 2009 01:17 (seventeen years ago)

agreed!

i only ask cause i see you posting on this thread and the dude's last name was 5chlump

69, Saturday, 9 May 2009 01:40 (seventeen years ago)

i will hold a bidding duel with this imposter to assert ownership of my moniker. the idea of selling ebay stuff to people i (tenuously by internet) know creeps me out, like i should suddenly become all apologetic about postage charges etc.

corps of discovery (schlump), Saturday, 9 May 2009 02:02 (seventeen years ago)

heres a little trick i use: if you just put the TO address as the return address with no postage on the record, itll get there safe and free every time

69, Saturday, 9 May 2009 02:07 (seventeen years ago)

haha wait, is that true?? that can't possibly work can it?

dmr, Saturday, 9 May 2009 03:59 (seventeen years ago)

it is a paradox of sorts.

CONTACT HIGH W THE GODZZZZ ORIGINAL COVER ON ESP

69, Sunday, 10 May 2009 23:06 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i got the kathi mcdonald for $1 so i decided to go for it. produced by david briggs, w/nils lofgren and some other interesting players. it's not too bad, she's this "bluesy howler" type. the playing is pretty restrained, maybe a little too much so, but i'm glad i picked it up. she used to be one of the ikettes, i guess?

once he puts that purple he will become an enemy (omar little), Sunday, 10 May 2009 23:09 (seventeen years ago)

oh also anni3 got

listened to godz last night on top of a mountain outside woodstock high on boo and vino and it felt like heaven licking my ear.

scott seward, Sunday, 10 May 2009 23:58 (seventeen years ago)

godz are one of my favorite bands ever. i prefer godz II to contact high, but they're both just so amazing.

also, awesome that you got the first moby grape! and great that annie got blues in memphis on OJL. You guys are such a cute couple.

ian, Monday, 11 May 2009 01:12 (seventeen years ago)

k3vin k., Saturday, 16 May 2009 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

it's also awesome, i listened to side 1 yesterday

k3vin k., Saturday, 16 May 2009 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

man i know nothing about the raspberries, can't help you.

challops alert:

she's so unusual > thriller

Brolotov Cocktail (n/h) (M@tt He1ges0n), Saturday, 16 May 2009 19:57 (seventeen years ago)

and yeah matt bush of ghosts was marked at $5, which is probably less than a better record store would have it at? i feel like all the expensive stuff my place has is stuff i'm not interested in but the good stuff i always find in crates under the shelves for cheap

k3vin k., Saturday, 16 May 2009 19:59 (seventeen years ago)

$5 is a really good deal if it's in good condition IMO...seems more like a $10 record

Brolotov Cocktail (n/h) (M@tt He1ges0n), Saturday, 16 May 2009 20:00 (seventeen years ago)

yeah actually all five of those were marked at five bucks but there must have been a special or somethin. walked out of there a happy kid

k3vin k., Saturday, 16 May 2009 20:02 (seventeen years ago)

"i feel like all the expensive stuff my place has is stuff i'm not interested in but the good stuff i always find in crates under the shelves for cheap"

city worker, did you order a bunch of that stuff from Captured Tracks?

ian, Sunday, 17 May 2009 01:09 (seventeen years ago)

I picked most of it up at Sound on Sound in Austin today. And the World is Lousy record in the mail from Almost Ready. But that Captured Tracks stuff I bought sounds great.
