So this album has been a sales flop eh

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 12 June 2017 19:40 (eight years ago)

btw riot! came out ten years ago today

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Monday, 12 June 2017 19:41 (eight years ago)

So this album has been a sales flop eh

I was hoping that "Hard Times" or "Told You So" would end up as a slow-burn hit the way "Ain't It Fun" did but I guess that's looking unlikely

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 12 June 2017 19:46 (eight years ago)

they rushed the promo cycle on this record intentionally but its floppability may have been out of their hands anyway

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Monday, 12 June 2017 19:52 (eight years ago)

I will never understand the mechanics of what gets to be a pop hit tbh

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 12 June 2017 19:56 (eight years ago)

i'm surprised "hard times" didn't catch

J0rdan S., Monday, 12 June 2017 21:59 (eight years ago)

i'm telling you, pop radio is allergic to women who don't sound catatonic these days

maura, Monday, 12 June 2017 22:08 (eight years ago)

Even Katy Perry replacing Williams couldn't stop this from tumbling out of the top fifty. And Perry's next.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 12 June 2017 22:09 (eight years ago)

maura otm. "Ain't It Fun" wouldn't reach the top ten in 2017 if RCA sent 20 grams of coke to every programmer.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 12 June 2017 22:10 (eight years ago)

there are three women in the top 20 (not a typo) this week and two of them are muses for edm dudes

maura, Monday, 12 June 2017 22:11 (eight years ago)

fuck -- "Bad Liar" is done.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 12 June 2017 22:15 (eight years ago)

"Fake Happy" is my favourite track

Unchanging Window (Ross), Wednesday, 14 June 2017 01:48 (eight years ago)

Can we discuss how beautifully -- how intricately -- York layers those guitar parts on "Told You So"? At least three riffs, each playing something different, and Williams has a melody line for'em all. The thing is like a cuckoo clock.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 15 June 2017 00:21 (eight years ago)

& they didn't even need 500 years of democracy and peace

difficult listening hour, Thursday, 15 June 2017 00:31 (eight years ago)

Should be pretty easy to get rid of.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 15 June 2017 00:45 (eight years ago)

wouldn't kick it with you after you hit that ground

difficult listening hour, Thursday, 15 June 2017 00:51 (eight years ago)

I tried to convince a skeptical peer of this album's genius by playing him "Told You So" and he replied with "bridge is OK, rest is meh" and now I truly understand rage

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Thursday, 15 June 2017 01:24 (eight years ago)

that person is not your peer. treat them as the sub-human refuse that they are.

this makes me sad, although it was a youth female that recommended me this album in the first place, so hope 4 the future

nice cage (m bison), Thursday, 15 June 2017 03:15 (eight years ago)

has it been remarked that "forgiveness" sounds like a christine mcvie-penned FM song?

fuck me up

J0rdan S., Friday, 16 June 2017 14:42 (eight years ago)

hmm, what other covers can i summon...

DON'T YOU THINK IT'S WEIRD HOW "TOLD YOU SO" SOUNDS LIKE STEVE REICH'S "TEHILLIM"???

nice cage (m bison), Friday, 16 June 2017 14:49 (eight years ago)

I don’t really care about Fleetwood Mac. They should play some Staind.

the ghost of markers, Friday, 16 June 2017 16:34 (eight years ago)

your mom should play some staind

she sounds terrific

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 19 June 2017 15:06 (eight years ago)

I still haven't caught up with the new one. Loved the self-titled record though. This one is a bit more synthy, no?

jterich, Monday, 19 June 2017 20:25 (eight years ago)

you might say so

Can't look back/Can't look too far ahead

About what I've recently concluded is necessary for me to keep things together at all.

top 5 of the year so far for me

Unchanging Window (Ross), Monday, 3 July 2017 21:18 (eight years ago)

same

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 3 July 2017 21:42 (eight years ago)

Top 1 for me

nice cage (m bison), Monday, 3 July 2017 22:33 (eight years ago)

Ha yeah, same here! I took a break from listening to it for a week or so but went back to it again today. I loved the s/t but this even tops that.

Gavin, Leeds, Tuesday, 4 July 2017 17:53 (eight years ago)

Yeah, this has become my album of the year too. It's just edging out Perfume Genius.

kitchen person, Tuesday, 4 July 2017 22:35 (eight years ago)

Still love this band but this album is tacky

Evan R, Tuesday, 4 July 2017 22:48 (eight years ago)

You know who else is tacky?

nice cage (m bison), Tuesday, 4 July 2017 22:49 (eight years ago)

Your MAMA

nice cage (m bison), Tuesday, 4 July 2017 22:50 (eight years ago)

I haven't heard any other Paramore album, but I love this one. Would I enjoy their other stuff? I know this one is different...

Unchanging Window (Ross), Tuesday, 4 July 2017 23:33 (eight years ago)

Tacky

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 4 July 2017 23:50 (eight years ago)

xp yeah you'd probably enjoy them a lot, especially the s/t album, which foreshadows some of the poppier sounds on this one. The albums before that were much more modern rock-y, but they were a best in class kinda thing for what they were

Evan R, Wednesday, 5 July 2017 00:14 (eight years ago)

I seriously just got into a car accident about two hours ago while Hard Times was playing on my car stereo. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and I am pretty sure the other driver's insurance will have to pay (I was rear-ended while being forced to stop during a right-hand turn), but my care looks like crap even more than it did before. Some sort of sign.

Louie Ramirez y Sus Blechos (_Rudipherous_), Saturday, 8 July 2017 03:38 (eight years ago)

This is why we don't drive on people's asses, Albuquerque.

Louie Ramirez y Sus Blechos (_Rudipherous_), Saturday, 8 July 2017 03:57 (eight years ago)

two months pass...

good show. the fleetwood mac cover is really good.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 October 2017 14:52 (eight years ago)

Now that the album has been, alas, a resounding flop I wonder what's next.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 5 October 2017 14:54 (eight years ago)

Hopefully they're still doing well enough as a touring act that soft sales don't matter so much?

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Thursday, 5 October 2017 14:59 (eight years ago)

I think I'm the only one here who hates the new album, but would they still be worth seeing if I'm not into the new stuff? They're coming in December but I don't think I can take 90 minutes of polyrhythmic beach party Paramore
