don't you hate it when you try to start a conversation with someone who clearly knows nothing about music? I asked like 20 kids at school today if they'd ever heard of The Arcana and half of them just gave me blank stares...the other half thought I was talking about the English proto-shoegaze duo AR Kane and went off on these ignorant tangents about 'Pump Up the Volume and plunderphonics and The Avalanches. bunch of plebs, right? surely the folks on the I LOVE MUSIC have more refined taste in MUSIC, surely they can appreciate The Arcana's crisp chiming guitars and Beatlesque melodicism and soul-searching philosophical lyrics, right? WRONG! the best they can come up with is scat jokes and sarcasm and lazy puns. some people they were born in the wrong generation but I was obviously born into the wrong species, fml http://i.imgur.com/K8Z5C2F.gif

Farmer Jones put on a THE ARCANA side, and before you could say 'everywhere a duck duck', the barnyard was fairly humming with cross-species copulation and copious coprophagia.

Let me get this straight...
A bunch of adults are using this thread to "optimize" associations between THE ARCANA and deviant sexual practices. Some random dared enter your precious safe space, so now you're going to make sure a struggling young band comes up in searches for urethra stuffing, right? Ha ha, so funny I forgot to laugh. You have no idea who THE ARCANA are or what they represent. From what I can tell, you haven't even given their music a chance.
But that's okay. THE ARCANA don't belong to you. They belong to the piss and scat fetish community. That's where they come from and who they made TOMORROW IS YESTERDAY for. A song like "Something's Coming Down" speaks directly and profoundly to the lived experience of every lonely teen who thinks she has to hide her laptop's brown folder from the world. Its truth will be heard no matter what a bunch of jaded, would-be internet critics do to drown it out.
Stop trying to make this about genital mutilation or emetophilia or whatever. You're just embarrassing yourselves.

There are so many good bands here, so it is difficult to say which one is the best in 2017. No doubt there will be more releases from all the bands in the coming months - so good, some not so good. Many of the bands may already have reached their peaks or even started to come down the other side of the hill. I'm not suggesting any band in particular fits this bill - it is all rather subjective. For example, I don't believe that The Beatles produced anything like the quality of material after 1968. Also, Pink Floyd did nothing before or after Dark Side of The Moon. These are all contentious statements and purely subjective.
My feeling is that the bands that are considered as popular over the last few years will continue to be so regardless of the quality of the material they release. People are very reluctant to embrace anything new without media affirmation, and it is quite true to say that the majority of the general public find it difficult to make choices and require steering by the media in a direction dictated by the media. Many (not all) of the individuals writing on this thread are effectively victims of this malady, sadly.
It is very interesting to observe people's reactions when confronted with something new. Fear and or mockery seems to be the course that they pursue. It is not necessarily their fault, but a consequence of the society the feel at home within. In any case, it is important to stand for what you believe in and as we still live in a country that has freedom of speech everyone is entitled to their opinions. I nevertheless, follow the ethos of one of our countries greatest humourists Groucho Marx: 'I don't care to belong to any club that will have me as a member'.

I'm pretty sure there are like 3 levels of irony i'm not getting here, but that post about "Destroy My Sweater" is one of the funnier things I've ever read on this site
There are a lot great bands on this list but in my opinion the best band on this list is WEEZER. If you've never heard Weezer, songs like "Destroy My Sweater" and "Buddy Holly" are hilarious and totally random but at the same time they still ROCK. Another great song of theirs is "Darling Don't You Go and Cut Your Hair." Now I know what you're saying, these songs sound goofy, but guess what? The lead singer went to Harvard, so there actually smart. If you want to learn more, go to a (real) record store. Or another thing you could do, is pick up a copy of SPIN magazine, which has a lot of articles about bands like this. Check them out and remember to vote WEEZER!!!― it me, Thursday, June 1, 2017 12:53 PM (five days ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

No, the fact that Pink Floyd only released one album is objective fact.

I couldn't have said it better than martyfalling's last post, really. I was saying basically the exact same thing to my freshman adviser the other day as Tubgirl-ed one another while THE ARCANA's TOMORROW IS A DAY THAT IS NOT TODAY AND THAT IS ALSO NOT YESTERDAY AND YESTERDAY IS NOT TODAY EITHER BECAUSE TODAY IS JUST TODAY ONLY.

It makes me feel very sad to see so much hatred and ridicule in the world. This thread seems to exemplify this. But let us face the facts: why are we even contributing to this thread? Simply, because we are all sad losers, including myself, with nothing better to do with our lives. No doubt everyone here is skipping school or college because they are seen by their peers as outcasts and misfits - why else are we here? Nevertheless, life goes on even if all of us here feel like giving it up. I don't much like Weezer.

The negativity in this thread is sad, but it's understandable. We're all lost and confused, trying to figure out how to navigate fifteen credit hours every semester while getting zero credit for our hours of pain. There's no quad big enough to contain my pain, no frisbee ultimate enough to quell my sorrow. I watch people line up at the credit card sign-up, eager for their free t-shirt emblazoned with 'FUTURE CONSUMER' in foot-high letters. This computer lab is a den of shame, true, where I sit in an eternally-frozen moment and contemplate the gravity of 'like'-ing the Facebook picture Tina Wolczyk from that party where losers like me could've never dared crash...but this lab is also a cocoon, where I can feel myself changing and growing while I listen to my optimally-sequenced fan edit of the album TOMORROW'S YESTERDAYS ARE TODAY'S TODAYS by THE ARNANCA on an endless loop, growing and changing and one day emerging as a fully-formed perma-temp with a degree I'll never use and student loans that I'll never pay off. And even if that glorious day never arrives, I will always have memories of my ACARNA-woven chrysalis, and of that time in 10th grade when Helen O'Malley let me touch her boob (overshirt, but still).

Let's face it: there's some people posting in this thread who are CLOSE-minded. It's easy to fall into routine habits. I even do it myself sometimes!
And there's a time and a place for that. For example, if you don't like a band (for example, Weezer) there are many places that opinion can be shared. Believe me, there is PLENTY of room for competing fans/fandoms on the Internet. I'm not arguing there isn't.
But what I don't get is, why you would come to this specific board, to share these opinions. When what you could be doing is LISTENING to the bands on this list and figuring out which ones you LIKE. Instead of making CLOSE-MINDED JUDGMENT STATEMENTS about stuff you're not even trying to understand.
As for calling everyone on the board losers... Well guess what! Not everyone posting here is some guy in mom's basement with a toy collection. Some of us have graduated college and are pursuing diverse careers. Some of us are even entrepreneurs! (Try googling "blockchain".)
The funny thing about all of this is that I'm not even mad. I just think it's funny how some people behave. My point is let's keep the board focused on the MUSIC.
