67?! I think we already went crazy, man.

Well, that's all but three of my top ten that have shown up so far. And those three are absolute shoo-ins.

Sensing the very real Prince vote split factoring in here.

Kid Creole's songs are so fun (and easy) to karaoke.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 14:41 (nine years ago)

tooooooo lowwwwwwwww

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 15:10 (nine years ago)

Erotic City would've been top 10 if I voted--the way the call-and-response lines flow together in the chorus, the irresistible groove, the brilliant use of negative space.

meekseeks mill (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 15:14 (nine years ago)

And the Beat Goes On is an amazing song, and one of like 4 or 5 on this list that I first discovered through Will Smith's rapping career.

meekseeks mill (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 15:15 (nine years ago)

bienvenido a miami

meekseeks mill (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 15:15 (nine years ago)

Perfect song, should've been in the top 20.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 15:29 (nine years ago)

aw yes "love you down" made it :) an excellent prince ballad ;)

dyl, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 16:03 (nine years ago)

classic

dyl, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 16:23 (nine years ago)

it's just sinking in after 34 years, but the parenthesis in that song title is a thing of wonder

Moodles, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 16:23 (nine years ago)

Girl.

(An inevitable selection and I can't argue against it.)

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 16:26 (nine years ago)

Yes! Not the biggest fan of Richie, but this tune is undeniable, so sweet and warm and full of joie de vivre.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 16:27 (nine years ago)

TOO LOW

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 16:40 (nine years ago)

about right

dyl, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 16:42 (nine years ago)

Huh! I wouldn't have expected it to show up this late in the game, but I welcome it.

Whenever I see this title I think of the Scottish coloquialism 'square go' and that's abut as familiar as I am with it

my #1, I believe

Another pleasant surprise! The last two were trimmed from my ballot last minute.

Any curveballs at this point much appreciated!

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:04 (nine years ago)

yes!! an amazing song. i love how the women's backing vox in the chorus sound, like a voice in your head or the ~truth descended from the sky

dyl, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:07 (nine years ago)

they're barely different but i think i slightly prefer the mix on the album version to the single/video mix (which is in the youtube link)

dyl, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:08 (nine years ago)

actually upon listening to the single mix again not even slightly, the album version >

dyl, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:13 (nine years ago)

"I'm Coming Out" was my #62, so this is an acceptable position.

mike t-diva, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:21 (nine years ago)

Criticize far too low. Does that mean Fake won't place now? :(

i know kore-eda (or something), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:22 (nine years ago)

Pulling for "Saturday Love" still.

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:26 (nine years ago)

That too

well put!

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:29 (nine years ago)

I voted for I'm Coming Out but I had My Old Piano much higher on my list. That's always been my favourite of the singles from that album.

Glad to see Criticize make it. I guess I'll have to give up on A Broken Heart Can Mend making it now?

kitchen person, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:31 (nine years ago)

This song is 100% ridiculous but that is what makes it work.

PJD PDJ DPJ (DJP), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:33 (nine years ago)

solid!
solid as a rock!

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:35 (nine years ago)

Yay! One of the greatest a capella intros in pop music, and the rest of the tune is just as solid. I've never actually seen the video before, they're so cute in it! :)

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:38 (nine years ago)

Also, how many other pop hits there are which are odes to a long-term relationship and the work it takes to keep it working? This song is just so awesome in every way.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:47 (nine years ago)

The first salvo in refining this (amazing) style, but I like some of the subsequent ones even better.

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 17:57 (nine years ago)

this countdown has been a weird combination of songs I heard a million time during my childhood and things I've never heard before, not a lot of middle ground
