Hell of a cover on that single.

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 18:48 (nine years ago)

On the days 17 Days isn't my favourite Prince song Mountains is. Love the video too

i know kore-eda (or something), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 18:51 (nine years ago)

The main reason why Parade is my favorite Prince album is because from Kiss onwards it is 100% fire, on a level I don't think he sustained on any other release. (Before anyone goes there, the first half of the album is on par with the overall level of his imperial time period; everything on the second half is on another planet altogether at a level he hits on other releases with selected songs but doesn't maintain for the entire side.)

OMG YES @ THE LAST TWO, except that they're both clearly top ten, wtf. Amazing amazing amazing songs.

Parade is also my favorite Prince album. Because it is inarguably the best.

iiiiii just wanna rock you
alllll night long

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:03 (nine years ago)

"Fantastic Voyage" and "Don't Stop the Music" are the first tunes in the rollout that I'm really upset aren't in the top 100. Utter classics of real black radio.

ArchCarrier, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:05 (nine years ago)

damn that's low for that song. i assume there's a ton of janet to go tho

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:06 (nine years ago)

The problem here is that there are about 200 songs that should reasonably be in the top 50

PJD PDJ DPJ (DJP), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:22 (nine years ago)

way too low

maura, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:24 (nine years ago)

also djp otm

maura, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:24 (nine years ago)

TOO. LOW

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:33 (nine years ago)

NO. KIDDING.

Injustice is just going to be running rampant from here on out, I feel.

Piano in my top ten

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:35 (nine years ago)

I just wanna go back real quick and pay major respect to the tightrope that Yarbrough and Peoples's 'Don't Stop the Music' walks, inasmuch as it's basically a contemporaneous tribute to the amazingness of Yarbrough and Peoples's 'Don't Stop the Music' as it's being performed and recorded. It's like the ultimate act of hubris, and yet it's impossible to disagree with their assertion. The music really is so satisfying, it's true. And I am in agreement that I don't really want it to stop, uh uh.

Loooove 'Piano in the Dark'. I was a little aghast when I realized that Russell's 'Get Here' wasn't on the nominations list until I realized I was thinking of Oleta Adams's more popular cover.

I don't think I've seen 'Piano' on a karaoke playlist yet but I am ready to fully embody that sucker if ever I do.

Calling it now. "I Can't Go For That" gets #1 in this poll.

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:45 (nine years ago)

The support for Hall and Oates is ilm's biggest challop.

gospodin simmel, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:50 (nine years ago)

Hall & Oates at least have the virtue of topping the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. I'm not sure Michael McDonald ever appeared.

baby, we don't love you baby, we don't love you baby, yeah (Sanpaku), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:51 (nine years ago)

is it a challop really at this point

i also cut all h&o from my ballot

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:52 (nine years ago)

(it was "Hot Soul Singles" at the time)

baby, we don't love you baby, we don't love you baby, yeah (Sanpaku), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:52 (nine years ago)

Michael McDonald has the virtue of being sort of endearingly crazy and square at the same time.

gospodin simmel, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:53 (nine years ago)

xxpost #7 US R&B according to Wikipedia.

Dan Worsley, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:53 (nine years ago)

I hope it's still a challop. Haven't noticed the reappraisal apart from those poor Patrick Bateman fans.

gospodin simmel, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:55 (nine years ago)

Only three more for now, and then I'm going to take a break. I'll be traveling until Sunday, during which I won't be able to post any results. The Top 100 will start on Monday.

ArchCarrier, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:58 (nine years ago)

xp: Condoleeza Rice (Pia Glenn) dances for George W. Bush (Will Ferrell) to I Keep Forgettin'

baby, we don't love you baby, we don't love you baby, yeah (Sanpaku), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 19:59 (nine years ago)

Criminally low imo.

insidious assymetrical weapons (Eric H.), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:04 (nine years ago)

Brad, get ready for a crushing disappointment...

ArchCarrier, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:05 (nine years ago)

Your Love is one of my favourite records ever but I had the self imposed 'no house' rule so..

i know kore-eda (or something), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:07 (nine years ago)

Until very late in the voting period 'Crush on You' had only two votes, with 199 points total (so you can figure out where I have it on my ballot) -- the highest point average of any song on the list.

ArchCarrier, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:09 (nine years ago)

The only Jets song better than "Crush on You" is "Curiosity"

PJD PDJ DPJ (DJP), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:12 (nine years ago)

I hope it's still a challop. Haven't noticed the reappraisal apart from those poor Patrick Bateman fans.

wait are you serious?

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:12 (nine years ago)

you are talking to someone who has no conception of a) how popular Hall & Oates actually were and b) how much of that support came from the R&B world

PJD PDJ DPJ (DJP), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:15 (nine years ago)

my no. 1 :(

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:19 (nine years ago)

This reminds me of the (white male) friend who was legit shocked that R&B audiences liked Joni Mitchell.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 20:23 (nine years ago)

Last one for today:
