I am mad that my first reaction was "Consolidated is neither R&B nor 80s"

There's a Grace Jones cover version of that Consolidated tune that could possibly fit the '90s version of this poll.

Wow, Fonda Rae too! Looks like half of my ballot is placing in this stretch of the list. I guess it's better than not placing at all, but I still hope the top 100 won't be all dominated by big name artists.

Really? What a weird argument. Of course I think, say, Prince is better in general than the Joubert Singers, or Jones Girls, or the RAH Band, or Fonda Rae, because he's released more great songs than any of them. But the individual tunes in this poll by those artists are still just as good as anything Prince did.

you are correct. "Girlfriend" is generic.
