just read there is a new Terrence Dixon album in July. I'm really up for that.

calzino, Monday, 1 May 2017 22:33 (nine years ago)

weirdly it is a concept album of all like 2-3 minute tracks, right?

the late great, Monday, 1 May 2017 22:35 (nine years ago)

actually that's wrong, I thought it was 21 tracks 50 minutes, but it's 21 tracks 80 minutes. wonder if they will vary a lot in length and structure or if it will be 21 4-minute monotone bangers

his tresor album of monotone bangers from 2012 still gets played round these parts

The sample track I'm listening to is 6 mins+ and pretty good.

Willie Dixon, Bill Dixon, Dixon's Ice Cream

The name always delivers for me.

calzino, Monday, 1 May 2017 22:39 (nine years ago)

xp kinda like gas imo but not boring

the late great, Monday, 1 May 2017 22:40 (nine years ago)

the late great, Monday, 1 May 2017 22:40 (nine years ago)

Many vibes, around 5 of them

saer, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 20:29 (nine years ago)

They are old tracks from DAT. Perhaps they could go on the bobbins of the past thread, but its a real logjam in there, my ISP said no mate

saer, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 20:31 (nine years ago)

Takes me back...

I have that person of interest record and I enjoy it

the late great, Thursday, 4 May 2017 19:05 (nine years ago)

Its massively reminiscent of something and I just can't place it. Something well known as well

saer, Monday, 8 May 2017 16:07 (nine years ago)

Some lovely moments on the Mr YT comp "Brand New Day". Mr YT is Japanese producer Yuji Technouchi apparently - not on my radar at all. This is a compilation of ep's that originally came out 97-98. Class.

the late great, Tuesday, 9 May 2017 21:04 (nine years ago)

I've been a bit on the fence about the spacetravel records but this remix is a bit of the old closing time vibe

the late great, Saturday, 13 May 2017 21:17 (nine years ago)

anyone heard the harvey sutherland and bermuda ep? all six tracks are good and the one i wanted to post isn't on youtube, but here is a taste. best thing i've bought in a long time - disco/house tracks with a band, just big deep happy music.

I really like that EP, we've been overdue a Metro Area revival

hehe - been trying to place who it reminds me of and there are certainly shades of metro area. also the detroit experiment. one of those great records where you listen to 15 seconds and the sound is so rich you know you're buying it, but after that each track just flows in its own way.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Sunday, 14 May 2017 21:16 (nine years ago)

some stuff I've been feeling lately:

Francis Inferno Orchestra - Oasis (Celestial Body Mix). Dreamy breakbeat house that goes well with that Young Marco Italian house compilation.

Telephones - DTMF (Call Super Remix). Skippy house with a breakdown of shimmering chords, warped string pads and what sounds like a muted sample of a lorry reversing.

Jamie Lidell - When I Come Back Round (Matthew Herbert's Long Night Dub). Heads-down swirling deep house that makes me think of the mid 00s when Kompakt and Villalobos were still building their reputations, and not even Lidell's best Jamiroquai impression can spoil it.

Michael Mayer & Joe Goddard - For You (DJ Koze Mbira Mix). Marred by indie mumbling but the kind of euphoric wistfulness that Koze excels at.

Space Dimension Controller - Exostack. To me this sounds like an early rave producer trying to make a classy disco track.

boxedjoy, Sunday, 14 May 2017 21:46 (nine years ago)

a few more

Oxia - Domino (Robag's Lasika Cafa Nb Remix). I don't hear anything in this that sounds like the original, but it sounds like Robag Wruhme at his usual standard.

Lord Of The Isles - Sunrise 89. This would be ambient house if it wasn't for the menacing tone in the low end. The EP this is from is really good, I like it more than the album he released.

Fred P - 6am. All three tracks on Instinctive Rhythms are good but this is my favourite - thumping tech-house with hooks and sounds sharpening in and out of focus.

Isolee - Pisco. Does anyone still think about that amazing My My album from a decade ago?

Baba Stiltz - Are You Mad? Cause I'm Not Mad... A bassline indebted to "French Kiss" with warm chords.

boxedjoy, Sunday, 14 May 2017 22:00 (nine years ago)

Thank you boxedjoy - lots of great stuff!
