big fan of that Booker T remix but I prefer it as a vocal number. It's so shameless and I love the interplay between those sinister bleeps and the generic vocal. It's on this compilation which is my favourite snapshot of UK garage at its peak.

I was really into Exist Dance in college, loved the original three Tranquility Bass "ambient" tracks (Cantamilla, Mya Yadana and They Come in Peace)

put psychic dreaming on this mix:

Ability II - Pressure (Dub) - this was recently reissued with a Luca Lozano remix but the original dub is the stand-out for me. It's so obviously a rip-off of "LFO" but those delayed vocal snatches really make it.

Picked up a score of about twenty records from 90s UK house label Vice Versa today in a cheap bin. Pick of the bunch perhaps this one:

These were all around £5 each. Not bad when the standard postage is 1.25 or something. The Blue Maxx one is being reissued I see.

New one to me also, though I have a city high record on that label

A favourite of late, pretty expensive these days tho!

I always forget about Amazon. Some great finds there!

There was a Metamatics reissue earlier this year, so maybe that one will get a reissue soon.

Heard the mighty Gwenan playing this the other weekend. Blew my mind, partly because it's so great, and partly because I thought I'd "done my research" on Morgan Geist. Clearly not. Must try harder C-.

The same weekend I also heard Jane Fitz play this absolute pearl.

Mirror Muse (Internal Inspiration) by Pirahnahead. Not on YouTube, so a Spotify link will need to do.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 July 2017 15:57 (eight years ago)

Who else did you hear play there?

saer, Wednesday, 19 July 2017 16:30 (eight years ago)

Highlights for me apart from Gwenan and Jane Fitz were Hieroglyphic Being, Rick Nicholls, Patrice Scott, Leah Floyeurs and DJ Bus Replacement Service.

Great record, when I bought that I bought it from him directly and he mailed me 4 copies. I mentioned this to someone I knew, and the same thing happened to them too. He must have been sat on a garage full of them

― Well bissogled trotters (Michael B)

have to ask - is *that* dfa the italian area knockoff from the '90s? cause that's the one i think of.

was listening to satoshi ikeda's 1992 album "a love supreme" and was surprised when track 7, "fall", turned out to be a 12 minute house number. i haven't heard a lot of what happened with city pop in the '90s and i hadn't heard it going blatantly house before. it's definitely crossover stuff, likely nothing that would impress a purist, but i liked it a lot.

There's another good version of that too. I think i had made the mistake of writing him off for some reason. Never write anyone off, even Andy Carroll you just never know
