I don't think it's terrible, but it is pretty mediocre and definitely inessential. I was tempted to see them live the other week but I'd've had to rearrange work to do it and after listening to the new album decided not to bother.

I saw them a few times in their psychocandy days, I'm not going now, no need.

"Reverence" was probably the best:

I was also at this show and they fucking ruled, just look at that playlist. The opening band, Warlocks, were also a pleasant surprise.

pleasantly surprised at the new lp (whereas the slowdive one bought at the same time hasn't grabbed me yet). lots of dumb lyrics in the later songs, but hey...

they are playing the forum (town and country / o2) kentish town on sept 20th, 27 years to the month since i saw them there with the telescopes and the fury things. (31 + 4.5 + 2.5 quid though)

all four Los Angeles dates already sold out, F***

Bee OK, Friday, 25 May 2018 02:36 (eight years ago)

they sold most tickets in person last weekend and only released what was left over online today. I'm sure shit is sold out everywhere. really looking forward to the SF show. I haven't seen NIN since the Bowie/outside tour, and haven't seen JAMC since the Rollercoaster tour with Spiritualized!

akm, Friday, 25 May 2018 04:30 (eight years ago)

heh, I saw NIN open for the Jesus and Mary Chain in 1990!

Hi, genuinely shocked here..

Was just looking at the discogs entry for "21 singles", seems its coming out on double-lp for the first time.

The writing credits has Jim writing only four. 'Upside Down', 'Never Understand', 'Come On' and "I love rock and roll'

So, the first two that put the J&MC on the map, and not much after? Amazed...

Mark G, Thursday, 5 July 2018 23:01 (seven years ago)

are those credits correct? on most of their records the songs are credited to both brothers.

visiting, Friday, 6 July 2018 01:05 (seven years ago)

I know, that's what threw me.

Mark G, Friday, 6 July 2018 06:53 (seven years ago)

I feel like if I wrote "Never Understand" I could just kind of kick back and be like "I've done what I came here to do, you guys write the rest of them"

Guayaquil (eephus!), Friday, 6 July 2018 07:14 (seven years ago)

it's a confusing mess - if you look up all of those tracks on other releases they're all "Written By: Reid/Reid"

(so, what visiting said then)

Ha! A friend messaged me last week to say "I've had a Facebook friend recommendation for Jim Reid!"

I had the same recommendation two days later.

Has William been recommended to anyone, though??

they announced a warm up gig in Brighton because they're playing a festival in Spain next month. I got tickets, first time I've seen them since 2009.

That week is going to be a bit crazy, it's all 90s indie rock all the time, I'm seeing Sultans of Ping on Saturday, Superchunk on Monday, JAMC on Thursday and Stereolab on Friday

that album track sounds good (although the video looks like 5 minutes of jim sat on a chair was all they had to work with). it also clears up that it's jamc-od and not, as i thought, jam-cod.
