Yeah dude's flow is great IMO. Way more dexterous/smooth than a certain other megastar rapper who allegedly makes more "fun" music

ELEMENT. and XXX. endings are album highlights too gotta say, calm after intensity. the latter doesn't even sound particularly U2-ish although maybe it's comparable to a certain era of 'em I'm not familiar with

XXX to me sounds like maybe Larry Jr. is doing some drums and then all of them are doing some vocals and basically did whatever Kendrick told them to do. They can't write stuff like that.

First listen here, it's fucking amazing. Peak of his game surely, long may it sustain. I'm on holiday in Kyoto and it's pelting with rain but FEEL. transforms it into magic.

xp He goes for the prophet vibe which makes him sound like a 2Pac tryhard (and Pac was already a tryhard himself). Also, a major source of frustration for me is that he has a very similar voice to James Brown but he is definitely not a James Brown. Even when he gets to work on something worthy like King Kunta he mucks it up with some corny shit like annie are you ok and baby woo woo. It comes down to yabish being probably my least favorite piece of slang ever. Like, just the way it sounds is awkward af to me. So I'm basically completely at odds with Kendrick's cadence.

I've listened to everything he's done sans mixtapes. Whatever he tries to do with his voice it always sounds corny to me hence parody. It might be partially due to being from Eastern Europe where the "ish" sound (as in yabish) is very common and has a clear infantile ring to it. Basically Kendrick sounds like a toddler to me.

Dude upthread is right about that part of the LUST hook being not-so-great, although imo a certain lyric on the falsetto part is worse. Rest of the song is cool tho.

Possibly just subject matter dude comes across awkward with for whatever reason, I've read people make that observation before

Kendrick has no conception of cadence. He's as bad as Macklemore. Just jam as many words in a song as you can with no regard for meter or cadence. Ive tried twice with the new album and it's just not clicking.
