I don't quite get Shuggie Otis. Nice song and all, but for it to finish ahead of the likes of Tears of a Clown and dozens of others just feels wrong.

Yeah, especially when compared to the Brothers Johnson version. I prefer that one.

xp - I don't remember the Delphonics in Jackie Brown, but I instantly fell in love with "Across 110th Street" the moment I saw the first trailer.

yes, every song in the top 50 has been a 10/10 classic

"Across 100th Street" in that same film was another discovery/motivation for checking out more of this stuff (other than the Motown stuff I already knew, that is--and even then, I always associated Motown with the 60s).

"Didn't I" was Pam Grier/Robert Forster's un/official love theme! It is played like three times in the movie!

I haven't seen Jackie Brown since it came out...
