Where does Lindsey end and Stevie begin

calstars, Tuesday, 11 April 2017 23:55 (nine years ago)

Mac without cheese.

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 April 2017 06:52 (nine years ago)

The cover looks like one page from a FMac tour programme, other pages have Mick with Stevie, etc.

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 April 2017 06:55 (nine years ago)

John stands alone, and by "alone" I mean with a lager.

Heh, well that's certainly one way of looking at it!

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 15 April 2017 03:07 (nine years ago)

holy shit this is fucking awesome, they need to change the cover immediately

flappy bird, Saturday, 15 April 2017 03:29 (nine years ago)

Very nice. Very LB, but I can hear how CM tempers his approach.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 15 April 2017 04:19 (nine years ago)

yeah, diggin' this, hope the single's an indication of things to come rather than an outlier

Wimmels, Saturday, 15 April 2017 13:20 (nine years ago)

I like how it has the same beat as Trouble

The album sleeve looks really naff, definitely. It looks like it was knocked up in a couple of hours by a record label art department in 1988.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 18:35 (nine years ago)

does it matter whether two musicians whose collecive age is over 140 years approved a naff sleeve?

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 15 April 2017 18:59 (nine years ago)

Maybe if they expect anyone under the age of 70 to pick it up and give it a listen?

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:20 (nine years ago)

those listeners will likely stream it

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:21 (nine years ago)

Or would, if they hadn't wussed out from calling it a Fleetwood Mac record. They must be seriously expectng to make a lot of money on this forthcoming "final" tour.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:46 (nine years ago)

why didn't they call it a fleetwood mac record

why

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:50 (nine years ago)

Well, it's clear to me that the rest of the band wanted to make a record but Stevie didn't. Stevie is going to be joining the band for a potentially lucrative tour and obviously they don't want to fuck that up, so in order to prevent hurt feelings and to ensure said lucrative tour goes ahead as planned they wussed out from calling this a Fleetwood Mac record/were forced to put this out as something other than a Fleetwood Mac record, thus denying the record the audience it could have had if it were actually being released as what it is.

Personally, I would have released this as a Fleetwood Mac record and stuck a sheep adorned with a Madonna mic onstage.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:57 (nine years ago)

Nicks has also said it costs too much fucking money to record an album in 2017, which is a strange remark considering they got several home studios and produce themselves.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 15 April 2017 20:04 (nine years ago)

Absolutely! Also she said something along the lines of "people don't buy albums anymore", but the demographic that Fleetwood Mac would mostly appeal to in 2017 would actually buy the physical product. I can just picture those at the Steve Hoffman Retirement Home for Lovers of Talking About Pet Sounds arguing over which is the best pressing.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 20:13 (nine years ago)

Besides, she would only have needed to contribute three songs, or be in the studio for a fortnight like she was on Tango in the Night. The press about it being the first album from the five-piece Mac line-up for 30 years would have phenomenal and led to far more exposure than this record's gonna get. A wasted opportunity.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 20:16 (nine years ago)

Lindsey saying this could be their last album definitely intensifies the wasted opportunity

josh otm, i haven't bothered checking out any of LB's recent solo albums just because of the awful covers. a stupid reason, for sure, but not uncommon.

flappy bird, Saturday, 15 April 2017 21:32 (nine years ago)

They're great! The covers, too. OK, maybe not Seeds We Sow, which is very much akin to this one:

But I like this one, especially that it is out of focus:

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 15 April 2017 21:54 (nine years ago)

i know...

flappy bird, Saturday, 15 April 2017 22:21 (nine years ago)

yeah they are both really great

akm, Sunday, 16 April 2017 05:53 (nine years ago)

anyway, is Mac touring this year outside of this stupid East/West coast mega show with the goddamned Eagles?

akm, Sunday, 16 April 2017 05:58 (nine years ago)

This isn't nearly as shit as I was expecting when I pressed play on that video. Also, nice nod to the classic 87 AH! "Big Love" samples in the track.

yesca, Sunday, 16 April 2017 06:05 (nine years ago)

haha it's so sad this isn't a FM release when will that band ever get a commercial breakthrough :O

song is good

niels, Sunday, 16 April 2017 11:01 (nine years ago)

Looking forward to this but my god that is cover is crap.

dance cum rituals (Moka), Sunday, 16 April 2017 12:12 (nine years ago)

The album cover I mean.

dance cum rituals (Moka), Sunday, 16 April 2017 12:12 (nine years ago)

It's a really good song with all the tasty rhythm section work we've come to expect from Fleetwood Mac, the bass and drums in this case having that lovely 'Dreams' groove.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Sunday, 16 April 2017 12:26 (nine years ago)

I just love that this song scans as "classic" Mac (late '70s imperial phase production/rhythm work) but is also just this weird-ass Lindsey thing

bunny slopes, Sunday, 16 April 2017 17:39 (nine years ago)

Everyone's talking about Lindsey, but this is also Christine's first significant studio recording in a very long time. Looking forward to it.

OTM. It's also the first Fleetwood Mac album for over a decade, which is all the more reason to get excited.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Sunday, 16 April 2017 19:56 (nine years ago)

love love love the single. puzzled/alarmed by the tour announcement, which currently has the buckingham mcvie tour skipping la (and ny), maybe because la (and ny) have the classic west east thingy at baseball stadiums with the eagles, but that's going to make me jealous of the rest of the country which gets to see them in not-a-baseball-stadium. please fix this, lindsey and christine, once you are done fixing the album cover kthxbye.

fact checking cuz, Sunday, 16 April 2017 21:39 (nine years ago)

yeah, wish they were coming to the bay area.

also, there WAS a Mac EP (download only) a few years back. It was good. It was completely overlooked.

akm, Tuesday, 18 April 2017 21:05 (nine years ago)

yeah weird that this is never mentioned (although I cannot remember anything about it myself)

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Tuesday, 18 April 2017 21:12 (nine years ago)

"Sad Angel" is a fine song that I listen to often.

yeah it was a good ep.

aw that's a good one, a bit of Mirage feel

Dominique, Thursday, 27 April 2017 15:58 (nine years ago)

yeah did you see rage against the machine are also on tour

niels, Sunday, 25 June 2017 10:00 (eight years ago)

one month passes...

saw them at the greek theatre in la tonight. buckingham is such a dominating stage presence that it felt more like a buckingham show with mcvie helping out than a buckingham mcvie show. also, her voice was not in a good place. she sounded like she was struggling all night. a little sad. it was still really nice to hear her give "wish you were here" a go. he talks too much and is boring and plays "never going back again" as a frighteningly slow dirge. the backing band (two guitarists who are longtime buckingham/mac regulars and a rhythm section who are not mick and john) came out after four songs and breathed some life onto the stage. "sleeping around the corner" from the new album was great in a way that made me wish they had totally fleetwood mac'd it up in the studio. that was my highlight of the night, along with a fully credible and fun go at "tusk." the set was about half fleetwood mac, half buckingham/mcvie, and two buckingham solo tunes thrown in. they ended quietly, with mcvie on piano singing a good ballad from the new album called "game of pretend," which she introduced by saying "this is not 'songbird,'" which was either a joke or an apology, i couldn't tell. glad i went. not sure what i was expecting. probably pretty much what i got.

fact checking cuz, Thursday, 3 August 2017 08:10 (eight years ago)

"Game of Pretend" is a solid album closer.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 3 August 2017 10:58 (eight years ago)

Well, all "Sleeping Around the Corner" was missing to make if full Mac was Stevie!

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 3 August 2017 10:58 (eight years ago)

It was totally the Bucky show here as well. I could barely hear Mcvie's keyboard playing, and she felt very much a supporting role. Having seen lots of Buckingham live, plus Mac, I think it would have been fine had she just been rolled out as needed to sing Everywhere, Little Lies, and Hold Me.

She closed the show with that same quip about Songbird by the way. Likewise, I couldn't tell if she was joking or apologizing. As it was, the show was maybe half full and people were already streaming out.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 3 August 2017 11:45 (eight years ago)

that's disappointing. did they already play these summer Mac festival shows?

akm, Thursday, 3 August 2017 13:45 (eight years ago)

I assume he's doing "Trouble" as well

flappy bird, Thursday, 3 August 2017 14:55 (eight years ago)

yeah they opened with "trouble," lindsey and christine alone onstage.

fact checking cuz, Thursday, 3 August 2017 17:13 (eight years ago)

Well, all "Sleeping Around the Corner" was missing to make if full Mac was Stevie!

truel but it sounds kind of small and weirdly enervated on the album. the live arrangement opened it up, made it more fun, bigger.

fact checking cuz, Thursday, 3 August 2017 17:19 (eight years ago)

xp whoa that's awesome, that's a great opener

flappy bird, Thursday, 3 August 2017 18:29 (eight years ago)

that show was amazing

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 11 August 2017 03:31 (eight years ago)

"trouble" -> "wish you were here" is a real heartbreaking opening suite

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 11 August 2017 03:35 (eight years ago)

also christine's voice was a little variable but she hit every note in "you make loving fun" so who cares?

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 11 August 2017 14:58 (eight years ago)

i think "hold me"'s key was shifted but i assume that was for lindsey's benefit more than christine's

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 11 August 2017 14:59 (eight years ago)

Could you hear much of her keyboard? How full was the audience?

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 11 August 2017 15:14 (eight years ago)

it was pretty full but not sold out at the beacon theater i think. it was only difficult to hear christine's keyboard when lindsey was playing his solo tracks

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 11 August 2017 15:15 (eight years ago)

i think i enjoyed this more than any mac show i've seen tbh

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 11 August 2017 15:19 (eight years ago)

Have you seen Bucky solo? Because it was pretty much like every solo Bucky show I'd seen, plus special guest Christine doing her songs.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 11 August 2017 15:22 (eight years ago)
