Maybe on the melodic end for this thread but I like this : https://missingorgans.bandcamp.com/album/old-speakers Nice cover too

wow, this track (and the other two on the EP, but especially this one)https://soundcloud.com/danse-noire-records/gil-many-1

I liked the Missing Organs. I had been looking for more music like that.

Heard some of this on Freakzone the other day and am curious to investigate, but looks like I'd have to commit too much time to actually listen to the whole thing

"Waywords and Meansigns: Recreating Finnegans Wake [in its whole wholume] set James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake to music. The whole book! With readers and musicians from around the world, Waywords and Meansigns is simultaneously an unabridged audiobook as well as musical adaptation. Our 2017 May 4 release will feature 100 musicians, readers and artists from 15 different countries."
― Camaraderie at Arms Length, Monday, 10 April 2017 17:58 (nine years ago)
i've got that. it's fun, and some of it is great, tho some doesn't feel especially interesting as a reading. it's the Wake tho, it probably makes as much sense to bathe in it ambient-style as it does listen with rapt attention
― Raul Chamgerlain (Noodle Vague), Monday, 10 April 2017 18:02 (nine years ago)
"not especially interesting as a reading" was a clunky way of saying some of it isn't so much music as bare-bones reading
― Raul Chamgerlain (Noodle Vague), Monday, 10 April 2017 18:03 (nine years ago)
Yeah, the bit he played was an experimental sound collage, and it was only afterwards that I realized it was Finnegans Wake, think it was a clip from the new edition which is coming out in May, sound like they've been working on it a lot.
You can play a clip here, if you scroll down to 'Waywords And Meansigns'

idk where else to put this but mind over mirrors is great + loooove the new expanded lineup (i saw him a few times solo and would still have recommended but the additional elements take it to the next level imo) http://www.nyctaper.com/2017/05/mind-over-mirrors-may-4-2017-union-pool/

i really liked the album that robert stillman put out last year. this is his new band/project bog bodies, which is more experimental, but seems interesting. multimedia stuff incorporating film and improvised music. a little jazzy a little post-rock a little droney.

really into this ellen arkbro release "for organ and brass," great melodic drones of ... organ and brass: https://open.spotify.com/album/4Hljg3AmimZRK9dnyhVPTJ (sorry for the spotify link but it doesn't appear to be on bandcamp or elsewhere)

i love dense clouds of organ and/or brass so this is like catnip for me

Philly noise merchants Tidal Archive do a 24-hour ambient drone performance once a year and they are at it right now! Check it out...

I really like this Mana album on Hyperdub. Synth album, very little percussion, but it has a lot of motion. I've found myself listening to it a lot.https://mana1.bandcamp.com/album/mana-creature-hdb111

The Iglooghost record is a monument to detail and production effort. So much happening all at once and from bar to bar, but somehow it's all clear in the mix and sounds stream-of-conscious in the end.

kind of loses me by being melodically unengaging, but bear in mind i am ruined in this regard and if you're just into cool beats then this has 'em
― imago, Tuesday, 3 October 2017 09:12 (eight years ago)
in fact this has a very similar should-like-but-don't effect on me as flying lotus, whose label this is seemingly on
― imago, Tuesday, 3 October 2017 09:13 (eight years ago)
Yeah there are melodies everywhere but not a lot to hang on to. I think it's literally ADD music in some ways (although less so than some of his other stuff).
