― gr8080, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:22 (nine years ago)
I caved and I'm listening to In Reverie at work and having all kinds of feelings for all kinds of reasons, so THANKS EVERYONE
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:23 (nine years ago)
i saw them live the week (day?) this was released - such a big beautiful dumb golden retriever of an album
― gr8080, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:23 (nine years ago)
I liked the first STD record because it sounded like Lifetime filtered through a more poppy filter. Didn't much care for the stuff after that, though I should revisit I think.

Love the Promise Ring.
fyi i'm going to drop these every 20 min so that we hit #61 by 5:00PM EST.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:24 (nine years ago)
I voted for the promise ring (and the moss icon that placed earlier)
― Odysseus, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:25 (nine years ago)
I'm going to be in a meeting for the next hour and if I miss a Juno record or something I'm gonna be (more) sad (than normal)
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:27 (nine years ago)
Wow, I completely missed STD during the voting period. Listening to 'See You' on headphones now, and wow! at those ghostly wooo-hoo-hoos before the second chorus.
― ArchCarrier, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:27 (nine years ago)
(more) sad (than normal)
AS strongly as Brad feels about In Reverie I feel about Stay What You Are. I had it top 3.

too high
― the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:40 (nine years ago)
yeah, not their best imo
― Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:41 (nine years ago)
not their best but was very integral for my emo listening path
― Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:44 (nine years ago)
I love the sound of the acoustic guitars and the superior version of 'Again I Go Unnoticed'.
― ArchCarrier, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:47 (nine years ago)
I'll never forget that Dashboard Confessional MTV Unplugged special, which is one of the creepiest things I have ever seen. All those kids singing along, tranquilized by really pedestrian songs, like they'd fallen into some kind of cult
― Evan R, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:49 (nine years ago)
my older sis lives in Boca Raton and is a semi-super fan ie she got engaged at a roller skating rink to a Dashboard song. Anyway she was at the library w her kids and saw Carrabba there w his family. she sparked up a convo, their kids go to the same school, etc etc. he ended up inviting them over to his house for a bbq and chill. they are still in contact and friends.
― Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:50 (nine years ago)
lol xp that was a classic mtv unlpugged
felt like everyone had that playing on repeat in their apartments at college for like 6 months straight
― Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:51 (nine years ago)
I enjoyed that unplugged.
― husked, tonal wails (irrational), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:51 (nine years ago)
MTV Unplugged was imo the absolute worst thing he ever did and to this day i find it borderline unlistenable
― Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:51 (nine years ago)
havent listened to it since then (2003?) not really sure i care to visit again to solidify any opinion on it.
― Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:55 (nine years ago)
the unplugged is great to watch and hard to listen to. my cats love it for some reason

this tie alone is begging for its own poll
― Evan R, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:04 (nine years ago)
From Under the Cork Tree way too low, was my no. 6, know the later albums are more liked but hard to describe how massive this was when it hit my school
― devvvine, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:05 (nine years ago)
i was never a huge form under the cork tree fan (tho i've heard it many times bc significant other is from chicago) - i always felt their sound was a little generic and underbaked until infinity on high, but i was relistening to this during the poll and def the blueprint is there from the getgo. the band benefited substantially imo from shifting its emphasis from pete wentz to the true heart + soul of the band patrick stump. maybe it's just me but it does seem like the "frontman" did switch at some pt??
― Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:08 (nine years ago)
This poll is rolling out very nicely. I'm the guy who voted for Lifetime, Against Me and Refused, as said above it's all so interrelated that it doesn't matter to me.
― Marty8501 (Marty Innerlogic), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:09 (nine years ago)
from under the cork tree is actually imo at exactly the right place (lol 69 nice). it's def the least good fob album (even stump agrees)
― the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:11 (nine years ago)
i mean, least good fob album not counting evening out with your girlfriend which no one does
the band benefited substantially imo from shifting its emphasis from pete wentz to the true heart + soul of the band patrick stump. maybe it's just me but it does seem like the "frontman" did switch at some pt??
i mean, pete is 100 percent the heart of the band/the "frontman" throughout their entire career, but infinity is when stump starts singing the shit out of the songs
― the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:12 (nine years ago)
also we didn't nom some of the more recent albums but i want to note that they're all good and i was rocking out to american beauty / american psycho on a car trip recently. save rock and roll also not nominated and also great. when i'm falling asleep at the wheel they are the band most consistently able to wake me up.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:15 (nine years ago)
this poll is making it very clear that i left emo behind in the 20th century
― gr8080, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:17 (nine years ago)
btw describing very emergency as a "big beautiful dumb golden retriever of an album" = perfecto
― the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:18 (nine years ago)
Wait, lol, Will, did you take improv lessons from N1ck?? Those guys went to my high school, a couple years behind me.

it's def the least good fob album (even stump agrees)
Dear god they made an album worse than American Beauty/American Psycho?
― Evan R, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:21 (nine years ago)
you can use that for the book, just attribute it in a footnote, thx

I def didn't love fall out boy at the time, didn't like them until infinity as well
― Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:23 (nine years ago)
Yeah, I graduated (from OAC/Gr 13!) in 1997.
― My Body's Made of Crushed Little Evening Stars (Sund4r), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 20:23 (nine years ago)
I also haven't liked anything since Folie a Deux
Too funny. I was the last year of OAC, in 2003. Gn1ck was smack in the middle between us.

Feel like this was a very smart move on the band's part. Pete Wentz is so indelibly associated with the '00s that seeing him feels like receiving an email from MySpace. Patrick Stump is a much more versatile canvas to project an image on
