a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:08 (nine years ago)

I knew at least one punk purist who was a bit miffed at this album which very much helped cement its appeal

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:09 (nine years ago)

ArchCarrier, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:10 (nine years ago)

Was this ever meant to be just an emo poll? Post-hardcore is listed as eligible in the nominations thread.

the lines were always gonna be blurry. i think it's cool these records are placing they just dont fit in the buckets i personally made for this poll. it would be more disheartening if the records were bad.

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:46 (nine years ago)

yessszs

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:46 (nine years ago)

In the meantime I guess now is as good as anytime to try listening to Save Anything

Ha, I guess I got Say Anything and Saves the Day mixed up. Which is which? And are they good?

Evan R, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:47 (nine years ago)

fwiw the list is turning out pretty well from my pov and def fits in line w/ what i was hoping would come out of this poll

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:47 (nine years ago)

how is there not an emo band named 'Save Anything'

saves the day i think with through being cool and stay what you are determined what emo would sound like for the following ten years or so

say anything came around later and at least on is a real boy their songs tend to shift from idea to idea with a theatricality that's like...idk, emo queen

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:50 (nine years ago)

emo queen is fair

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:54 (nine years ago)

One interesting takeaway from this poll already is it refutes the popular narrative that fans of second gen/'90s emo despise the third wave, mall-punky stuff. Obviously it's a modest sample size here but we haven't seen any of that in this thread, the enthusiasm carries across the sub-genres with tons of overlap

Evan R, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:55 (nine years ago)

I could never get into Saves the Day for whatever reason

xp lol sorry to conform to the popular narrative! :D

I want to change my display name (dan m), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 18:55 (nine years ago)

it's been way too long for me to care much about this stuff anymore but yeah, back when it was all happening, mall-punk was not my favorite
