One of the tracks on the Rival Schools album ("Holding Sand") is mysteriously absent from Spotify.

Such a varied countdown already.

Gavin, Leeds, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 11:29 (nine years ago)

Wait, lol, Will, did you take improv lessons from N1ck?? Those guys went to my high school, a couple years behind me.

My Body's Made of Crushed Little Evening Stars (Sund4r), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 13:16 (nine years ago)

I think Weights and Measures was the best early 00s Ottawa band in the broad post-hc/emo/math rock genre.

My Body's Made of Crushed Little Evening Stars (Sund4r), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 13:23 (nine years ago)

I would unironically like to hear someone like Brand New cover one of the more brooding Undertow-era tunes

idk are you listening to quicksand

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:01 (nine years ago)

They were maybe the best post-Shotmaker band from the era?

some of my best pals in HS had a band for about a year that was such a beautiful rip-off of Shotmaker's sound - sadly i dont think any recordings exist

they were so solely invested in the sound that they just lazily stole the lyrics from chumbawamba's "tubthumping" for one song and ginuwine's "pony" for another

gr8080, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:24 (nine years ago)

lol

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:29 (nine years ago)

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:30 (nine years ago)

yeah it was quicksand and thirty ought six that made me think that

quite liked say anything from what i can tell!

saetia seemed like straight up black metal for one track lol

an uptempo Pop/Hip Hop mentality (imago), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:34 (nine years ago)

quite liked say anything from what i can tell!

hooray for theater kid emo

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:35 (nine years ago)

it is becoming clear that emo has more than three chord sequences

maybe as many as seven

an uptempo Pop/Hip Hop mentality (imago), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:39 (nine years ago)

sorry for the late start. everyone ready to begin?

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:43 (nine years ago)

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:44 (nine years ago)

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:47 (nine years ago)

You know I've been running one too but I wouldn't mind ceding that to you - free up a little bit of my time.

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:48 (nine years ago)

good to know that i'm at least as good at drums as the moss icon guy

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:49 (nine years ago)

oh shit mordy I didn't see that lol!

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:50 (nine years ago)

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:50 (nine years ago)

to quote my wife from the first year we were dating, "aw poor emo boy :("

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:51 (nine years ago)

hahaha

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:51 (nine years ago)

people accusing me of being an emo kid really stunted my emo development

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:52 (nine years ago)

love Moss Icon.

husked, tonal wails (irrational), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 15:58 (nine years ago)

when she said that i'd pull up my coheed hoodie over my head and eyes and pout

Mordy, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:01 (nine years ago)

This is lower than I expected - good record!

Also I have to admit, Say Anything are a real blind spot for me.

Gavin, Leeds, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:03 (nine years ago)

good to know that i'm at least as good at drums as the moss icon guy

I gave this a vote but I think it might be the drumming that holds me back from loving them as much as I 'should'? I always feel like they should be tighter (or else more loose and free/noisy).

gr8080, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:12 (nine years ago)

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:12 (nine years ago)

gr8080, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:14 (nine years ago)

there is a lyric from an album that will definitely place in this countdown that I am *still* planning on getting a semi prominent tattoo of lol

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:16 (nine years ago)

Jersey's best Dancers and Hello Bastards both would have made my top ten.

husked, tonal wails (irrational), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:25 (nine years ago)

the 2007 s/t wasnt nominated iirc, but for a reunion lp, was pretty solid imo

so sick so sick of being tired
and oh so tired of being sick

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:46 (nine years ago)

i voted for a different tbs record but tbh this one has it all

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:46 (nine years ago)

it's not particularly recorded well and the songwriting is pretty disorganized and they would make way better records than this and yet it's so special

the raindrops and drop tops of lived, earned experience (BradNelson), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 16:47 (nine years ago)

fuck i just realized i forgot to vote for piebald :-0
