idk i was with you on the 'no personality' thing 3 years ago but now I think he's kind of outmaneuvered if not overcome that line of attack

I'm not saying he's more or less misogynist than anyone, just that the concept of cuts like "collection" are kind of corny in a way that makes me feel secondhand embarrassment

The production on these HNDRXX songs is so refreshing compared to the restraint of his more recent albums. Really loving the breathy backing vox on 'Use Me'

What is going on at 0.38 - 0.41 on 'Fresh Air'? That's gotta be the most impenetrable mumblecore since that Thugger line on 'Lifestyle'

cn kinda understand the ~future has no personality~ argument but ultimately its just rap fan bingo imo, which is a lil funny since when he first came out everyones argument against him was that he didnt check the good rapper box and he was just a new tpain or something, ultimately his music just has a ton of emotional resonance and im not sure how u separate that from personality, tho admittedly its not usually how rap works, i do have sympathy for deejs complaints against some of his modes tho personally success future is my least fav

i think the reason ppl are willing to dig through his vast and uneven catalog is because hes good and they like him lol

Of course but it's not like ppl on ilx are normally only listening to things that have proved themselves commercially I mean there's like 4784856 dawn Richard stans here, keef & mozzy both pull more attention than her

now I keep thinking about this friend's wedding i went to in 2013 where this guy who worked for nonprofit community orgs started ranting at me in the car about how irritating drill rap was and how the neighborhood kids wouldn't listen to anything else

On the self-titled, think a certain template has to be great for you to be mining it over and over, and his isn't. Also figuring the rappity rapping side of him isn't one I necessarily care about.

I don't miss "sensitive" Future so much as I think his tracks used to have a little more life, including the amped up ones.

"Sorry" is great, certain other songs from that sound like obvious/cheesy pop grabs. Will check the whole album though
