NO FEATURES

royce jung (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 16 February 2017 17:08 (seven years ago) link

on a less important note, they have the zaytoven instrumentals for beast mode on spotify, which is making for some pretty good at-work listening rn

royce jung (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 16 February 2017 17:10 (seven years ago) link

no features is the new features

lag∞n, Thursday, 16 February 2017 17:22 (seven years ago) link

you served too many appetizers

flopson, Thursday, 16 February 2017 17:33 (seven years ago) link

Yeah this is really hitting the spot rn, Zoom is great.

devvvine, Thursday, 16 February 2017 21:17 (seven years ago) link

It sounds kinda cool but I'm not quite convinced. I need a bit more ballads and heartbreak and future in my future.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Thursday, 16 February 2017 22:10 (seven years ago) link

cool opinion from three years ago

r|t|c, Friday, 17 February 2017 12:02 (seven years ago) link

Well, I prefer the Future from three years ago to this guy. It was fun and exciting up until DS2 but from then on it's mostly been diminishing returns.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 17 February 2017 12:22 (seven years ago) link

yes... it has been noted...

r|t|c, Friday, 17 February 2017 12:28 (seven years ago) link

scrape it out the barrel when he review it ~skrrt skrrt skrrt skrrt~

r|t|c, Friday, 17 February 2017 12:34 (seven years ago) link

take off the first two, 'poppin tags', and poss 'super trapper', and this would be front 2 back mesmerising imo

it's a fine art and (since michael man fell off) he honing it

r|t|c, Friday, 17 February 2017 13:01 (seven years ago) link

I was super excited on the first listen. But then the emptiness set in.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 17 February 2017 13:03 (seven years ago) link

Still hanging on for Beast Mode 2, though.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 17 February 2017 13:08 (seven years ago) link

I'm very happy for your enthusiasm. Don't get me wrong.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 17 February 2017 13:09 (seven years ago) link

lol the first three and "poppin tags" are my favourites plus "scrape". there are some cool moments on it but it's more treading circles than honing to me, it's neither elevation nor advancement and the emotional impact is diminished after the 84392892147th mixtape/album in the same vein

lex pretend, Friday, 17 February 2017 13:11 (seven years ago) link

xxp how did u ever engage w/ him without embracing the emptiness

even his greatest romances held their depth in ephemerality not timelessness

r|t|c, Friday, 17 February 2017 13:17 (seven years ago) link

there was always emptiness but it had a counterweight in a certain optimism, the desire for revelation and light. That dynamic was what defined him and which made embracing the emptiness - as part of the truth but not the whole truth about human existence - appealing in the first place.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 17 February 2017 13:29 (seven years ago) link

lol @ grab on that pussy like donald

johnny crunch, Friday, 17 February 2017 14:18 (seven years ago) link

on first listen i detect a lil of the bouncy early mixtape future on this

lag∞n, Friday, 17 February 2017 17:15 (seven years ago) link

This seems fine idk I feel like at a certain pt I'm reviewing a beat tape

It picks up around "Draco" though

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 17 February 2017 18:38 (seven years ago) link

yeah draco beat got me perked

Spottie, Friday, 17 February 2017 18:39 (seven years ago) link

This seems fine idk

yeah this is where I'm at, nothing special, nothing awful

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Friday, 17 February 2017 18:40 (seven years ago) link

other than Draco on the first half it seems like he's done better versions of each track already.

Back half is sounding good tho

Spottie, Friday, 17 February 2017 18:46 (seven years ago) link

there are hints of emotional future in the second half, particularly "when i was broke"

royce jung (slothroprhymes), Friday, 17 February 2017 20:53 (seven years ago) link

back half def picks up.... my EP is like:

Draco, Mask Off, Outta Time, Might As Well (fav track), Feds Did a Sweep, and although I haven't decided if i like it or not yet "i'm so groovy" is cool

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 17 February 2017 23:14 (seven years ago) link

or interesting, i should say

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 17 February 2017 23:14 (seven years ago) link

POA is cool but that flow is overfamiliar to me or something

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 17 February 2017 23:18 (seven years ago) link

is it the key to the streets flow?

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 17 February 2017 23:19 (seven years ago) link

the skits are really annoying

j., Saturday, 18 February 2017 04:36 (seven years ago) link

cool

haha music criticism grappling w/ its greatest nemesis in real time

r|t|c, Saturday, 18 February 2017 10:09 (seven years ago) link

that looks like i'm implying my being above it but (obviously) that is not the case

it's just striking how often the word has come up now and earlier itt (cf johnny fever observation upthread)

the hot take is that the simultaneously notional and v concrete agency of nebulous ~cool~ is the ultimate ilm blind spot and og 1st wave foundational poptimism was probably tacitly self-defined itself against it

r|t|c, Saturday, 18 February 2017 10:21 (seven years ago) link

craig jenkins tweeted his ep from the tape, same as mine except 'when i was broke' in place of 'mask off' (he might be right)

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Saturday, 18 February 2017 13:27 (seven years ago) link

bet jams had like a hour+ of future vids last night that me and my gf had on in the background and she woke tday saying she had dreams w/ me and future in it

johnny crunch, Saturday, 18 February 2017 13:28 (seven years ago) link
