it's his room

Dinsdale, Wednesday, 15 February 2017 20:10 (nine years ago)

I didn't think a reverse img search would work but inspired by MatthewK I did an incredibly crude mock-up of the cover in Photoshop - literally splodges of dark blue with some yellow loosely resembling the visible letters. GIS interpreted it as a poster but once I changed the term to album I spotted the Four Year Strong record and immediately thought 'wow so close, it actually has the right colours letters at the end of the words but too different a font - maybe they have an alternative similar cover for it' - after a few more minutes realised the roboshark in the top right was a perfect shape match.

Then I got cocky and tried to do the same for the one under Badly Drawn Boy but the only thing coming up anywhere close is this Pentangle record.

this thread is heartwarming

Wow! We live in exciting times.

dance cum rituals (Moka), Wednesday, 15 February 2017 21:14 (nine years ago)

This is such a weird collection. And if they picked the albums based on how the covers looked you can do much better (yet not as good as metal sharks)

dance cum rituals (Moka), Wednesday, 15 February 2017 21:18 (nine years ago)

CODE! TREASURE!

mark s, Wednesday, 15 February 2017 21:26 (nine years ago)

The completely hidden records are all ILX comps.

nashwan, Wednesday, 15 February 2017 21:41 (nine years ago)

So that's not the White Album, it's Comp Together!

You're going to see a lot of love. Okay? Thank you. (Dan Peterson), Thursday, 16 February 2017 16:48 (nine years ago)

ha, yes, thanks. was hiding in the pesky folded comments.

koogs, Thursday, 16 February 2017 16:50 (nine years ago)

I spotted that one, vaguely familiar from my time trolling cajun/zydeco bins.

What's the poster on the wall to the left of The Smiths?

nate woolls, Friday, 9 June 2017 08:31 (nine years ago)

I'm guessing it's Robert Smith, helped partially by that being the next logical member of the sequence JAMC, U2, Smiths...

Mungolian Jerryset (bendy), Friday, 9 June 2017 11:52 (nine years ago)

isn't that a face in a space helmet on the left? 2001?

StanM, Friday, 9 June 2017 11:59 (nine years ago)

yeah, looks like some sci fi movie to me

sleeve, Friday, 9 June 2017 13:59 (nine years ago)

I'm pretty sure StanM is right.

If the top 21 longboxes can be identified here, it might be possible to date the video down to a few week span!

It looks like Bruce Springsteen's Lucky Town at 7 and (educated guess here) Human Touch at 6. Number 5 looks like Garth Brooks' Ropin' the Wind. The Springsteen albums came out in March 1992 and that Brooks album in September 1991. Def Leppard's Adrenalize is probably in here somewhere.

3 is the Wynonna Judd s/t and 4 is, I think, the Wayne's World soundtrack.

#16 Pearl Jam Ten
#17 Amy Grant Heart In Motion

(both '91)?

Is #12 Slaughter - "The Wild Life"?
https://www.picclickimg.com/d/l400/pict/152365080503_/1992-Slaughter-The-Wild-Life-Factory-Sealed-Cd.jpg

That would push us into the end of April '92. But I also thought 12 might match the middle display on the wall at the back (similar black-on-red lettering) and I think that might be something else so maybe 12 is too.
