"The Ultimate Jedi Who Kills All the Other Jedi and Eats Their Bones" is their best song since "Short Song For Justin Bieber's Paparazzi."

THAC0 Pastorius (Tom Violence), Wednesday, 1 February 2017 23:59 (nine years ago)

super appreciate that when ppl praise his work he says pleasant and modest things that do not include the word 'humbled'

mookieproof, Thursday, 2 February 2017 00:46 (nine years ago)

..I think you are maybe thinking of someone else?

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 2 February 2017 06:59 (nine years ago)

heh, i did a shitty job of posting that track.

Trying again: http://www.vulture.com/2017/01/mountain-goats-wrote-a-star-wars-song.html

I mean, being humble strikes me as a very JD thing, it's the self working on the self, unlike being #blessed. Can definitely see him getting up in the morning and doing 20 humble crunches, getting himself set up for the day.

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 2 February 2017 12:12 (nine years ago)

No I imagine he means that he's avoiding this new use of the word "humbled" when the person means, in fact, the opposite, which is a thing more

blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 2 February 2017 14:08 (nine years ago)

Hah, I did not know of that - okay then I think his uses are definitely keeping the retro-humbled flame alive :)

Interview about the new book

some sad trombone Twilight Zone shit (cryptosicko), Wednesday, 8 February 2017 16:40 (nine years ago)

I'm at that in-between point where I saw the book at work, bought the book, am excited about the book's basic description, am recommending the book to coworkers and customers, but still need to start the book on my day off.

So maybe tomorrow. The dust jacket will show off great wear and aging like a pair of Canadian/Japanese collaboration blue jeans.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 18:45 (nine years ago)

as somebody who needs choral music to be aggressively crossovered into their life i am hyped to hear, d

schlump, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 18:50 (nine years ago)

(Thanks for asking. I'm confused too.)

some sad trombone Twilight Zone shit (cryptosicko), Wednesday, 22 February 2017 19:48 (nine years ago)

it's the DJP-only album we've been waiting for

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Wednesday, 22 February 2017 19:53 (nine years ago)

DJP has taken over the MG identity and it is nothing but plainsong chants.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 19:56 (nine years ago)

Or alternately, I arranged backing vocals on one of the songs

ornate orchestral arrangements (DJP), Wednesday, 22 February 2017 19:57 (nine years ago)

But...my creative lies for your benefit.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 20:00 (nine years ago)

Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna email some friends for a Latin translation of "No Children" this weekend

Anyone reading his book?

calstars, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 21:26 (nine years ago)

Just got a copy after going to the reading in Seattle. I'm honestly amazed by how good he is at audience q&a's, being able to answer cliched or awkwardly phrased questions in an interesting way that doesn't make the person asking feel stupid is a real gift.

JoeStork, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 21:31 (nine years ago)

omg @ Goths

Universal Harvester rolling me right along in a musical way, not breezy tho (how did that word become such a thing)

dow, Saturday, 25 February 2017 05:10 (nine years ago)

The book is indeed extremely good.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 26 February 2017 00:53 (nine years ago)

I tried to find it on the kobo store and it offered me

Farming Machinery - Combine Harvesters - With Information on the Operation and Mechanics of the Combine Harvester

and

How to Start a Potato Harvester and Sorter Business (Beginners Guide)

brekekekexit collapse collapse (ledge), Sunday, 26 February 2017 16:08 (nine years ago)

i have been VERY disappointed to discover Universal Harvester unstocked at the many airports i have passed through this weekend

jason waterfalls (gbx), Sunday, 26 February 2017 20:13 (nine years ago)

That's because you weren't looking under his pseudonym, 'Brad Thor.'

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 26 February 2017 20:16 (nine years ago)

Oh so it is available as an ebook in the kobo store, but not in the UK. And there I thought we had a global economy.

brekekekexit collapse collapse (ledge), Monday, 27 February 2017 18:10 (nine years ago)

as an aside i have to imagine placement in airport bookstores does wonders for sales -- feel like airports are one of the last few places ppl make impulse book purchases

jason waterfalls (gbx), Monday, 27 February 2017 18:32 (nine years ago)
