But it made me realise how ignorant I am about this kind of music -- I don't even know what to *call* it: it's some sort of house, right? (and yeah yeah names aren't important, but they at least send you to the right section of the record shop). Forgive my ignorance, but where would I go to find more stuff like it?

i've seen a lot a raves for m83 off-ILM. primarily by indie types (i make no judgements in saying that).

He was also way into dance music.

Jul 12, 2004 12:35am garnet (joined Jun 6, 2004) i'll know who you are
Jul 12, 2004 6:40pm fozzie (joined Jun 6, 2004) I dunno man, last time I was there (which was a while back when I lived in the hood), I caught a real "hipper-than-thou" hipster vibe from the place... The coffee was good. The food was good. But the people seemed kinda snobby. Or maybe I'm just not cool enough.
― jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 2 May 2005 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)
is bookending your mix with two versions of the same track sort of cheating a bit?
― genital hyphys (haitch), Monday, 21 August 2006 12:11 (nineteen years ago)
THIS IS SO GOOD U GUISE
― max, Thursday, 19 July 2007 02:32 (eighteen years ago)
am i the only person who couldn't get into this mix?
apart from the fantastic jackson mix of m83, i find the track selection pretty dull. sorry.
― sam500, Thursday, 19 July 2007 07:02 (eighteen years ago)
you are not forgiven
― deej, Thursday, 19 July 2007 07:12 (eighteen years ago)

― lex pretend, Thursday, 19 July 2007 08:26 (eighteen years ago)
it really is amazing (sorry vahid)
― Tim F, Thursday, 19 July 2007 10:38 (eighteen years ago)
Still the best Fabric mix by a fucking mile.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 19 July 2007 10:53 (eighteen years ago)
Which track actually has "Isn't it amazing" as a vocal?
I *LOVE* this so much, and thank you ILM 2003 for introducing me to it.
― Jamie T Smith, Thursday, 19 July 2007 11:01 (eighteen years ago)
it is really sweet
― babedad, Friday, 20 July 2007 02:00 (eighteen years ago)
i prefer immer to this i think
― creme1, Friday, 20 July 2007 02:02 (eighteen years ago)
i prefer immer 2 to both of them!
― tricky, Friday, 20 July 2007 02:19 (eighteen years ago)
listened to this yesterday after seeing this thread. i believe i shall do so again now.
― haitch, Friday, 20 July 2007 03:59 (eighteen years ago)
in response to the first thread...
yes. it is good.
― Hamildan, Friday, 20 July 2007 16:22 (eighteen years ago)
Immer 2 deserves more attention (and a second chance or three).
It lacks the immediate first impression of Immer as well as the easier accessibility of Fabric 13, but Immer 2's so shimmerier and slinkier.
― dblcheeksneek, Friday, 20 July 2007 18:04 (eighteen years ago)
immer 2 took a few second chances with me, but it is now my favorite of the three (the other two are still tip top obv.). it is really good late at night on headphones.
― tricky, Friday, 20 July 2007 18:22 (eighteen years ago)
Man, this (now 9 year old!) mix is still SOOOOOO AMAZING.
― EDB, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 14:31 (thirteen years ago)
this mix is the best

This is probably my favourite mix album ever.
Is his Mantasy album any good? (Or is there conversation about it elsewhere?)
― djh, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 21:03 (thirteen years ago)
Mantasy isn't very exciting but I like it just fine.
Recommend his RA podcast from the end of last year, like it better than the album, up there with his older mixes.
― Plasmon, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 23:51 (thirteen years ago)
Read a description of it as "middle aged" which actually made it appeal.
― djh, Thursday, 21 March 2013 18:10 (thirteen years ago)
Mantasy is a nice sort of Sundayish album to sit and read to but it's not really house music, until you get to the final third at least. It's beautifully produced and there's some lovely stuff on it though.
Cosign the recommendation for the RA podcast though, that's essential.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 21 March 2013 19:19 (thirteen years ago)
Ta. Any recommendations on tracks to here from Mantasy? The couple I've played have been a bit ... nothing, really.
Will hunt down the podcast.

most of them are up on soundcloud - http://soundcloud.com/medellinstyle/michael-mayer-resident-advisor

The RA mix is pretty good. Mentioned a couple times in other Mayer threads but his mix for John Peel was pretty great albeit short. I re-uploaded it since the blog I found it on had it on Megaupload. Link and tracklisting.

The Peel mix is a 10/10 classic for sure.
