I loved the first Blues Pills album but couldn't get into this one. Also, how did this non-metal band get past the censors

read the interview where Inquisition attempts to deny they are racists, and it's rambling, tho honestly don't think they are. But I can also see an extreme metal band hating the thought of being PC, hence mixed messages

yeah that's the problem. it comes off really bad! fuck them imo but i'm not gonna like yell at anybody for listening to them

Nails being assholes would be the literal non-shock of the year
I think it's the singer - the bassist is a regular where I work and is a super nice dude (who would rather be playing Ramones-y punk I think).

listening to Astronoid now, I'm glad it exists even if not my cup. Like if Fleetwood Mac was an emo band who wanted to play blastbeats. I don't think these guys are even trying to be "metal", as those beats can belong to anyone, really.

Psych-doom didn't know it needed vocal harmonies this heavenly, but it sure got them. Kickass band and lovely people too. My #7 but a total triumph. Wales has entered the building
lol Brad, Astronoid feels like it was devised with you in mind

MWWB was my #3. Space forever. A fresh sound and the songs really go somewhere (to space).

I thought (for some hazy, unfounded reason of associative memory) that Deftones was a band I definitely didn't like, but I gave half of this a listen and it sounded kind of great. I still didn't vote for it because the experience confused me but I'll be more inclined to listen in future.

Can anyone compare the vocals in Astronoid and MWWB? I didn't care for either record, not that the singing was bad, I just thought it didn't stand up to the music. Are they similar vocally, or do I just not remember MWWB very well?

― dance band (tangenttangent), Monday, 19 December 2016 20:02 (seven years ago) link
Astronoid = soaring pop harmonies, inspired by Mew
MWWB = floaty ethereal shoegazey vocals, more psych than pop
Both have excellent harmonies but I can understand how the softness might be offputting (insofar as it is soft - both feel quite overwhelming in their way)
Deftones also known for their harmonies I think? We'll listen at home (or in the new year lol)

43 Blood Incantation - Starspawn 216 Points, 7 Voteshttp://i.imgur.com/dAvWub5.jpghttps://open.spotify.com/album/75nL1UjHpFVOaaJfhXl3ZXspotify:album:75nL1UjHpFVOaaJfhXl3ZXhttps://darkdescentrecords.bandcamp.com/album/starspawn
After signing with the label prior to the August 2015 release of the Interdimensional Extinction EP, BLOOD INCANTATION returns with a 30-minute cerebral whirlwind of powerful atmospheric death metal. The intense and otherworldly technical/ambient/funeral death metal of Starspawn leaves the listener feeling transcendentally disembodied at the end of an unknown dimension.
Produced entirely in analog, the energy and magnetism of live BLOOD INCANTATION is tangibly melting through the speakers, and the songwriting, production and performance constellations have all fully aligned.
With appearances at California Death Fest and Covenant Festival (Canada) already on the horizon, and an even more extensive US tour this September, the worldwide spread of the BLOOD INCANTATION tentacles into all orbits is as inevitable as your own death and this galaxy's violent collapse.
Dark Descent Records will release the album on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital formats.
