all I want is for Happy House to leak so that I can listen to it to the exclusion of everything else in the world for like seven hours straight.

oh - that Blackjoy remix of Holy Ghost gets better every time I listen to it. Anything else by them that I need to search out?

http://www.discogs.com/release/792527
a little more on the deeeep side of things but still gets people moving.
― gr8080, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:18 (eighteen years ago)
i was going to post that knuckles remix today. now i can't. fuck.
― the table is the table, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:27 (eighteen years ago)
okay, well it ain't showing up in hype machine, so i'ma do it anyway.
― the table is the table, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:29 (eighteen years ago)
tables i didnt know you blogged. link?
this track is so rad. so i havent read anything on it yet, but this is Anthony on vocals, right?
really want to hear the santiago version.
also, there's a new syclops track up on the DFA myspace today that sounds pretty good.
― gr8080, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:33 (eighteen years ago)
grady, i am here: deepmovements.blogspot.com .
yeah, good on you for bringing up the santiago version-- i am sort of dying to hear it. as i was saying upthread, he's been getting a lot of action recently, and it seems to have come out of nowhere? i mean, i'd heard his shit before this summer, but it had never struck me, and now he has tons of new (and mostly good) remixes for big releases floating around, and is getting more hype.
― the table is the table, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:39 (eighteen years ago)
ive been digging him for a while.
i've talked up his 15 minute re-edit of roxy music's "angel eyes" on other threads, and finally got to play it out a few times in the last few months to great effect.
his stuff is all over the place from harder electro-house stuff to cosmic, re-edit stuff.
his "we love ibiza" mix w/ riton is pretty great too.
― gr8080, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 18:58 (eighteen years ago)
aside:
is it riton as in triton?
or is it riton as in right on?
carry on.

― deej, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 21:45 (eighteen years ago)
i think i've listened to that frankie knuckles/ herc love affair/ anthony track like 30 times since this morning.
two months is too long to wait for vinyl.

GOOD GOD! Blind (the club mix, which is all I've heard thus far) is just, wow. . .
Oh and thanks to JD Twitch's quite excellent RA Podcast for enlightening me to this fact
― mehlt, Thursday, 24 January 2008 03:30 (eighteen years ago)
the original Blind is imo 10x better. i listened to that 30 times yesterday
do i want to listen to antony?
― jaxon, Thursday, 24 January 2008 03:57 (eighteen years ago)
Antony's always been good with decent/great backing/beats - see "A little bit of time" http://www.discogs.com/release/323632 which is fantastic. But still have no desire to listen to "I am a bird now".
How different is Blind from the club mix?
― Jedmond, Thursday, 24 January 2008 04:19 (eighteen years ago)
kinda surprised you prefer the original ... i much prefer the bigger, smoother sound of the remix, his voice just seems more powerful that way. The original is kinda weird & arty but also sounds too narrow or something
― deej, Thursday, 24 January 2008 05:24 (eighteen years ago)
maybe i just need bigger drums
― deej, Thursday, 24 January 2008 05:33 (eighteen years ago)
Still Going is pretty wonderful too. Curse all this time I have ignored DFA!
― mehlt, Thursday, 24 January 2008 06:07 (eighteen years ago)
wow. i've only ever heard one brooks song years ago, and i always thought it was sung by a seriously gay man, and totally loved it, but had no idea it was by antony.
― jaxon, Thursday, 24 January 2008 06:16 (eighteen years ago)
i first saw him on tour w/ lou reed in 03.
he was singing the nico parts.

Anyone know if there's any more on the way from Holy Ghost? They've got another track on their MySpace - if it's indicative of a looming album (or even just another single) I will be Very Much Of The Happy. (I am stupidly angry at myself for being unable to go see them DJ at the Mountain Bar last Thursday - stupid job requiring me to be coherent at 6 AM.)
also those Syclops tracks are dope^very, "Where's Jason's K" moreso than the other one.
― jamescobo, Monday, 28 January 2008 17:43 (eighteen years ago)
I know, I love that stuttery bassline on "Where's Jason's K."
Have you heard "Keep on Move" by Babytalk? Could totally be one of these 12"s (down to the artwork)
― Savannah Smiles, Monday, 28 January 2008 18:00 (eighteen years ago)
I really like how this batch new singles/albums are all very good, and mostly coming from new artists; I'd even like to hear more stuff from Prinzhorn Dance School, though their album last year wasn't particularly great it hinted at good stuff
Delia & Gavin/Black Leotard Front need to put out some new stuff though
― Malcolm Money, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)
Where are you Black Leotard Front? Why haz teh Berlin split you up?
― BleepBot, Monday, 28 January 2008 20:11 (eighteen years ago)
what's really maddening is that I could have sworn I remember reading that "(Hey Coach) I Read Your Diary" was all but ready to go, but for whatever reason it's just been sitting on the shelf. And then there's "Song #5" from the DFA Xmas mix from a few years back, which is v. much the BOMB.
DFA WY U BRAEK HART

― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 29 January 2008 23:52 (eighteen years ago)
man I am going to buy like eighty copies of that single when it comes out on the off chance that I lose seventy-nine copies in a fire. GOD what a song.
― jamescobo, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 20:55 (eighteen years ago)
wow. that is seriously addictive.
― brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 21:14 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, just from hearing it in mixes and sound clips, I'm pretty sure it has surpassed GMELT as my favorite from him.
― matt2, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 21:38 (eighteen years ago)
I really like the new Juan Maclean track Happy House (played on last week's Beats In Space). It's the one that goes "Excellent" a lot.
-- Alba, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 20:30 (5 months ago)
I can't believe it's been last summer since I've been waiting for this record to come out. I can't find get a clean download of it yet.

the Hercules & Love Affair debut is AWESOME
I seriously can't get "Hercules' Theme" out of my head
― Malcolm Money, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 18:59 (eighteen years ago)
hercules theme is truly great.
― s1ocki, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 19:02 (eighteen years ago)
There's a thread for the Hercules here btw: Hercules and Love Affair
― matt2, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 14:59 (eighteen years ago)
Fuckin shit, man.
First it was the Blind (club mix), then it was Happy House, now there's the Deepchord and Echospace remixes of The Shocking Pinks.
What's stopping DFA from being my label of the year at this point?
― mehlt, Thursday, 24 April 2008 00:37 (eighteen years ago)
one determined GI.

"Rong Music and DFA have joined forces to create a new dual imprint label for the US! We're all very excited about this joint venture and have many great ideas already in the works for 2008.
Rong music has compiled a (somewhat) new take on the early 80's underground of New York City's No Wave sound. We've even coined our own name for the new sub genre - "Not Wave." For those of you asking, what the hell does that mean? Well, have a listen and hear for yourself! But, if ever cornered by some vinyl maniac at the local disco, our knee jerk response will be, "It's kinda like No Wave, but Not." I guess you could say our thoughts on the matter for making any type of compilation are, "every-thing's been done already, so why not start off with something old and work towards a mutated version of itself." Make sense everybody? Nahh... were just foolin with that last uptight quote, what a bunch of horse *bleep* huh? "
― jaxon, Thursday, 24 April 2008 06:42 (eighteen years ago)
there are some joy division knockoff clunkers, but there are some serious killers. especially the Mr. Chin & Circuits tracks

is the syclops record good?
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 2 July 2008 16:27 (seventeen years ago)
yeah it is! it's real jazzy/kind of funky in places more often than there are true house moments like "Where's Jason's K" (albeit experimental house in that case)
