Last year's ballot showed up Dec. 4, so they're not running late.

I swear, every other year when I try to vote I encounter some sort of technical crap that makes it impossible, then I wind up having to re-enter everything.

anyway i have no idea how i'm still getting invited to participate, i haven't done any music writing in years and i could've sworn there was a point where they were like "please resubmit your credentials" or w/e, maybe not

I voted for either 2 years or maybe 3 years in the mid-00s, and then one year nobody sent me a ballot and I never bothered to find out why because I'm lazy. And now it's been a really long time since I've written anything anywhere.

Is there a VV contact more responsive and/or less inundated than the generic address through which the ballots are sent? Trying to get a colleague added to the mix.

Thanks alpine! I told yall wrong about the date I got last year's ballot: Dec. 13, not Dec. 4. But I'll keep Glenn's xpost heads-up about the speed-up in mind.

If they move it up any more this year, that may well be the end of the road for me. The antiquarian notion that the year actually ends on Dec. 31 used to sync up well with my workaday life. The rush to get year-ends out earlier and earlier is just one more thing that makes no sense to me.

I think it has to do with people ceasing to care about last year once the new year has started.

Maybe--which is actually pretty weird, since the calendar year is such an artificial construct anyway. And it's also almost like giving out sports MVP awards with two weeks left to go in the season.

But I guess I prefer that to the idea that every publication is simply being driven by what every other publication does.

The truth is, I'm just looking at this in terms of my own participation and nothing else.
