― moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 22 June 2008 07:15 (eighteen years ago)
"R&B Drunkie" makes the last 100 years of human history all worth it.
― Tim F, Sunday, 22 June 2008 08:13 (eighteen years ago)
^^ not hyperbole
― haitch, Sunday, 22 June 2008 09:09 (eighteen years ago)
the two mark e mixes going around out there at the moment—mystery mix on dj history and turn it out (forget the blog that hosted)—are so fantastic.

― moonship journey to baja, Monday, 23 June 2008 21:18 (eighteen years ago)
anyone know what's going on with Windsurf? they said in the fader that they are putting out an album this year but there is nothing really on their myspace (one new song that is awesome of course). they're probably my favorite new balearic band besides studio.
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 June 2008 21:59 (seventeen years ago)
Eskimo just released their remix of Low Motion Disco, plus a forthcoming remix on Permanent Vacation, then an album on Internasjonal. coming soon!
― BATTAGS, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 22:38 (seventeen years ago)
anybody heard that Baldelli mix on Eskimo? crazy tracklist

Parlour sound very promising, although hard to pin down. "Amor" is like a cross between Studio and A Mountain of One - melodramatic widescreen balearic prog-MOR. "Capriccio" is bloated beardo-italodisco-rock. "Theme" is ridiculous afro-disco-pop that's a bit Boney M.
True to form, Studio, A Mountain of One, Richard Norris and Permanent Vacation are all friends with them.
― Tim F, Thursday, 26 June 2008 16:36 (seventeen years ago)
can someone leo either/both permanent vacation mixes?
― gr8080, Thursday, 26 June 2008 16:48 (seventeen years ago)
"mark e is so crucial"
naturally, i'd love to agree given that i have had a few emails over the last couple of years from people thinking i'm the man behind these tracks, but to be honest, i aint feeling this stuff.
yet.
― mark e, Thursday, 26 June 2008 17:34 (seventeen years ago)
salty

i heard "foreign affair" by mike oldfield on the radio while eating at a restaurant in prague and it was :D :D :D
― impudent harlot, Friday, 27 June 2008 20:21 (seventeen years ago)
fits in wonderfully with this stuff, but i imagine everyone who posts to this thread has heard it by this point and i am ten years in the past as usual
― impudent harlot, Friday, 27 June 2008 20:22 (seventeen years ago)
aside:
i'm assuming from context the meaning of to "leo" or "leonardo" (v.) is "plz to send me this music thing." how'd this one come about? why? etc.? just curious.
― andrew m., Friday, 27 June 2008 20:24 (seventeen years ago)
old noize board thread. it was a title that got switched up a bunch of times and ended up that way
― jergins, Friday, 27 June 2008 20:43 (seventeen years ago)
apparently not everyone loves balearic stylings. was in the car yesterday and playing the Balearic Mike beats in space mix (which i absolutely ADORE) and the two ladies in the car kept asking me wtf i was playing. they said if they were listening to music like this, they expected to be getting a massage. lol new age
― jaxon, Friday, 27 June 2008 21:03 (seventeen years ago)
don't make me come back there and massage you ladies! i'll turn this car around!
― andrew m., Friday, 27 June 2008 21:04 (seventeen years ago)
Peter Visti's "Tokyo By Night" = the one piece of culture that will live on in the heart and mind of the universe when our planet and our species are long gone.
AKA it's the "Da Funk" of balearic.
― Tim F, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 08:37 (seventeen years ago)
ok listening to that j. gonzalez/todd terje track right now. EPIC.
― impudent harlot, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 13:59 (seventeen years ago)
Timspeak: "the one piece of culture that will live on in the heart and mind of the universe when our planet and our species are long gone" = "worth a listen."
― Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 14:15 (seventeen years ago)
I'm auditioning for Boomkat.
― Tim F, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 14:25 (seventeen years ago)
In reality "Tokyo By Night" is the second best balearic track of the year after "Whispers".
― Tim F, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 14:26 (seventeen years ago)
New mix: https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/38583/mikebee%20-%20newmix0608.mp3
falls apart a bit towards the end, but the first 40 minutes are golden. Hope you like. Tracklist when I get a chance to put it down.
― BATTAGS, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 22:00 (seventeen years ago)

steve shasta asked me politely to never say balearic again
― jaxon, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:27 (seventeen years ago)
what was polite about it
― max, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:29 (seventeen years ago)
he said, "hello, good sir. the usage of the term balearic is causing a great pain to my ears. it would pleasure me greatly if you refrained from using it in my presence. good day"
― jaxon, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:51 (seventeen years ago)
and he was wearing a bow tie
are you sure it wasnt michael white
― deej, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)
he probably had his wakeboard with him
― max, Thursday, 3 July 2008 21:24 (seventeen years ago)
no one seems to be talking abt the new lindstrøm? i posted on the thread for it... i think its great. probably fits more under 'balearic' than 'beardo.' "the long way home" sounds like a straight rip of michael shrieve's "transfer station blue." title track is sort of a jarre/e2-e4 thing. great for summer nights.
― max, Thursday, 3 July 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)
max, dunno if you heard this or not, but did you hear this Klaus Shønning track i put on my site? sounds totally like "transfer station blue" http://robotsinheat.com/trax/LocrianArabesque.mp3
― jaxon, Thursday, 3 July 2008 22:13 (seventeen years ago)

― haitch, Saturday, 5 July 2008 14:38 (seventeen years ago)
it's on its way in the mail, i'm super stoked
― san frandisco, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)
