also the person on the cover is sharona who is described in the song my sharona as a 'pretty little thing' so you might resonably conclude that the creep who writes the lyrics for the knack might possibly describe her using the irksome term 'little girl' so eh ...the little girls under a stand am i labouring this much?

Seems like the front cover artist missed the cue on drawing one of the hands missing a finger?

Shit, good call... maybe the fifth hand over from the left, though it's sort of hard to sort out that whole clump of hands right there. If it is a thing, it's much subtler than the cover as a whole would suggest is possible.

The hand closest to the POV looks like a right hand and is only showing 4 fingers, and the nail polish matches. I see a thumb and the next 3 fingers. It could be the pinky is the one cut off rather than just out of view.

Green fingernailed hand in the middle there is actually a severed hand being waved around by someone else. Red fingernailed hand second from left has three fingers and a thumb only. What this means I dunno.

Also follows that the visual of the band on stage would be from the letter-writer's point of view.

The PS on the letter is "I will wave" so I'm going with the idea that the foregrounded fingertips are Denise's.

I wonder if the band wanted to show the finger stump but the label said no way, and the art was changed.

many x's and p: that Terry Stamp album is actually pretty cool, with Ollie Halsall from Patto on guitar. And Stamp was in Third World War. But that doesn't change the cover.

Nazareth deserves some props here for having not one but three album titles that utilize the shortened 'n' in place of and.

1973- Loud 'n' Proud
1976- Close Enough for Rock 'n' Roll (previously mentioned) & Play 'n' the Game

And speaking of "and" what the heck was 'Johnny Winter And' all about? That is a different level of band name and also seems to fit here in some ways.

Arthur Baker's Kingdom Come - 'Galactic Zoo Dossier' from '71 is another one that fits here and would have worked nicely as a Budgie album title.

I love how overworked the visual gag is. He can't have hair! Otherwise it will be confusing. And, uh, better put a little ladder on also.
