yung lean's most recent videos have like 1-2 million views, peep isn't quite there yet but also has no press or record label

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 8 November 2016 03:23 (nine years ago)

So... He's not as popular

blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 8 November 2016 05:55 (nine years ago)

yung lean is completely forgotten in the us except as a meme maybe. im sure that currently, peep has a good claim on being more popular

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 8 November 2016 06:22 (nine years ago)

like, post malone's album is about to flop, most guys in that ironic cloud rap vein have the lifespan of a meme

Lil Peep - better or worse than Yung Lean? DISCUSS!

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Tuesday, 8 November 2016 08:20 (nine years ago)

I do not want you to discuss that, btw. I just don't see the appeal of this outside of Noisey circles.

Kind of feeling like Lil Yachty deserves his own thread but don't know if I'll get shot down by the goon crew for starting it

Anyway, it appears nu-witch is now definitely a thing https://wiccaphase.bandcamp.com/
Whether it's a good thing or not is another matter

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Tuesday, 8 November 2016 09:24 (nine years ago)

Lil Yachty is great, gets lots of love on the rolling rap thread

niels, Tuesday, 8 November 2016 09:32 (nine years ago)

my point was that peep has probably the same audience as yung lean. I know some young yung lean fans, lil peep sounds like something they should be into.

For some reason I can't understand the first responders on any thread I make about music are ppl like joan shakey forks et all who I share little in common w musically at least as far as new music
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40)

because we post on virtually ALL the music threads and aren't particularly interested in who starts them and we're just looking to learn about stuff and not engage in extended conversation with the thread starter unless we think there's something to be learned there? it's not real difficult to figure out if you presume that none of us have any particular agenda about trying to beat you up or if you aren't seeking strawmen to flail at to show how HARD YOU'RE FIGHTING to claim an artist as your intellectual property.

This song by peep collaborator lil Tracy is even better tbh. He also steals his guest spot on Hellboy

three weeks pass...

this hits a strange, previously unimagined sweet spot

bits of it are grungy, other bits lofi, and some of it reminds me of ... modest mouse. is he from somewhere near the NW?

ogmor, Monday, 12 December 2016 23:48 (nine years ago)

I heard a rumor Lil Tracy is Ish from Digable Planets' son

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV6YOP5iWys

hes better at rapping than Peep but they complement each other well

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Thursday, 22 December 2016 23:25 (nine years ago)

Anthony Fantano calls Lil Peep's "Hellboy" one of the worst ten albums of the year:

Ha. Solidified as one of the greats then

Spottie, Friday, 23 December 2016 06:14 (nine years ago)

i missed this thread the first time around, but it is a treat. i enjoyed Joan's 'grunge harmonies' posts.

i heard this when it came out because i kinda know one of the producers, whose vibe is very much mall punk + witchy/cloudy/sad boy rap. i get it and it might be the best-executed thing i've heard in this style, but is still basically unlistenable for me personally.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 23 December 2016 18:14 (nine years ago)

also on that Lil Tracy track either the vocal track is misaligned or he's just mad out of time. sounds like the former to me. i know there's a lot of tolerance for that as a sound post-Lil B but i cannot take it.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 23 December 2016 18:15 (nine years ago)

that reminds me, Digable Planets are playing here tomorrow and I can't bag my friend's election party to go see them ;_;

I'm still lolling that peep's most frequent collaborator is the son of a member of digable planets this whole thread is a bunch of ppl basically admitting they've given up on following where the culture is headed

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 23 December 2016 19:06 (nine years ago)

I prioritize what sounds good/is interesting to listen to over concern about "where culture is headed"

Οὖτις, Friday, 23 December 2016 19:19 (nine years ago)

if "this whole thread ... basically admitting" means straight years of petulant deeply entrenched incurious revelry then yeah

r|t|c, Friday, 23 December 2016 19:30 (nine years ago)

someone is mistaking "where the culture is headed" for "what deej and some guy at pitchfork fancy atm."

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 23 December 2016 19:45 (nine years ago)

yeah deej peep aint poppin in these norwegian streets
