imo the fear of being "demographically & culturally replaced" as an _american_ is some crazy shit because things keep changing
there was some article from a hundred years ago where people were going on about these bizarre ethnic foods, and how they're such a weird fringe thing. it was about hot dogs.

I don't think he has much contact with the metal scene, he lives far away in rural France, self-releases everything and doesn't tour.
I mean musically his influence on modern metal is immense but nobody seems to like him much as a person.

lol i'm listening to a burzum album called "the days of yore" and this is some sad fischer price my first enya album lord of the rings bullshit, very embarassing. i mean this song "lady of the lake" is just fucking ridic, plunking "dramatic" synth notes then reciting bullshit about "scorceress" i guess he had a talent and hit upon a certain aesthetic at one point in time but this dude is so profoundly stupid

Sky Ferreira isnât the first name that springs to mind when you think of Norwegian black metal overlords Mayhem, but the grunge-pop Playboy cover star will soon be helping to bring the bandâs controversial story to life on the big screen.Ferreira has been cast in Lemonade director Jonas Ă kerlundâs upcoming movie Lords of Chaos, which is based on the 1998 book of the same name by Michael Moynihan and Didrik SĂžderlind. As Deadline reports, the film, which Ă kerlund co-wrote with Swedish scriptwriter Dennis Magnusson, documents the bandâs career in the early â90s when they were associated with violent acts of varying extremes, from bringing sheep heads on stage to burning down churches. The film also covers the period following the bandâs split after the murder of Ăystein Aarseth by his then-bandmate Varg Vikernes, aka Burzum.

Yes please. Any specific recommendations for dungeon synth? Daudi Baldrs is my favourite Burzum disc, love Aghast, I quite like some of Mortiis' dungeon music era and I really like it when metal types do purely atmospheric stuff. Moevot sounded alright in places.

i like this, got a nice dark atmosphere to it and a nice sense of melody, way better than the burzum i mentioned above

I only dip into dungeon synth occasionally. There's Lord Wind, the folk/synth offshoot of Graveland doing yer olde "swords & sorcery B-movie soundtrack" thing with gusto. A lot better than the metal he does these days, definitely.

Basarabian Hills are kind of great, they released an album this year. It's really good if you like humility and limitations in your wild forest music

fwiw i was trying to argue up there that music about forests is fascist. if you are writing songs about forests, you are making nazi music.

re: lord wind, this is the type of semantic, convoluted b.s. that p much means "yeah dude is a nazi" to me
Darken has been accused of being a neo-Nazi. However, he has made statements to contradict this accusation, even speaking out against the Third Reich and their ideology: "I do not see any point in referring to NS because I do not see any point in referring to any ideologies that lost. It is against logic and eternal law of evolution"[3] and "If you are White proud of being White and proud of your forefathers faith, if you politically incorrect, if you dare to criticize the politicians and it you point at the existence of a strong powerful Jewish lobby supporting Israel â you are called nazi and anti-Semite. And the special institution start to persecute you. I am called âNaziâ but no one has any proof of my nazi background. They just repeat once heard someone else words having no proof of it."[4] and "In Poland many people refer to Slavonic heritage as many refer to German. And I think that those who refer to Slavonic culture are the majority but they do not make big show of it. For me there is no difference between pagan beliefs of Vikings and Slavs. The names are different but the core is the same. Different stories but the same Gods with the same attributes. The ideologist of the Third Reich were responsible for the division between German Aryan world and Slavonic world. They distorted the historical facts in order to separate from Eastern world. Communist did the same but they of course favouritized [sic!] Slavs."[

"description of Hillary CENSORED..Too Truthful"
The funny thing is I suspect Varg is even more marginalized in mainstream Norway as he would appear to be from a US perpsective. During '08, I remember talking to my Norwegian friends, and although they were happy to see Obama winning, it was also a matter of "no matter who the US president is, he and the country will still be a lot more conservative than us".

makes sense I guess, seems like a pretty isolated guy. He had a video about Fenriz and Darkthrone the other day, and it basically sounded like he hadn't talked to him in years. These (mostly rambling and not interesting IMO) videos seem as much him talking to himself as anyone else.

Yeah dude lives in a tiny hamlet in rural France. Also took his wife's last name, he now goes by Louis Cachet. Frankly I'm not that interested until he starts doing metal again, Fallen was really good but he seems to focus on useless shit like these vlogs, board games and new-agey soundtrack work.
