We Will Fall was very high on my ballot, never understood the antipathy towards it

sleeve, Wednesday, 12 October 2016 20:19 (nine years ago)

"We will fall" is good but it doesn't merit the 10 minute length. Iirc the original demo song was actually 3 minutes or so but when the label told them they needed more material for the album or they wouldn't sign they tripled its length.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 12 October 2016 20:55 (nine years ago)

I wonder if "Aisha" will place?

Wow, I thought Death Trip would place higher.

kornrulez6969, Thursday, 13 October 2016 19:58 (nine years ago)

it was my #13, one of my favorites outside of the classics

sleeve, Thursday, 13 October 2016 19:59 (nine years ago)

Hahaha guys I'm unexpectedly busy this week with my bars / my wedding / my housing situation and I'll also be the emergency dj at a friend's party on saturday since the dj they hired bailed and its too late to find a decent one for a big party so I'm not sure I'll be able to post the full results on friday. Is it cool if I post on sunday?

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 13 October 2016 20:01 (nine years ago)

wedding?!? by all means, delay

sleeve, Thursday, 13 October 2016 20:05 (nine years ago)

I mean my wedding is until March but weddings here in Mexico are big (many guests, like 10 hours minimum of dinner/party) and need more time to be planned. Mine will be 500 guests and its considered a 'medium' wedding. I envy the smaller weddings you seem to have in other countries.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 13 October 2016 20:28 (nine years ago)

So far:

The poll's #45 ("Girls") was my #5
The poll's #38 ("I Got Nothin'") was my #18
The poll's #35 ("Five Foot One") was my #2
The poll's #34 ("Repo Man") was my #6
The poll's #29 ("I'm Bored") was my #17
The poll's #26 ("The Endless Sea") was my #14

I didn't vote for any of the other songs so far, though I like a lot of them. Iggy's catalog is ridiculously deep.

btw, in case you haven't noted the titles in the images are not random but color coded by album... so if you want to know the particular ranking of songs for each album just follow the colors:

Funhouse: orange
Raw Power: red
The Stooges: brown/golden
Kill City: hot pink
Lust for Life: yellow
The Idiot: grey
New Values: purple
Repo Man: burgundy I guess?
Blah Blah Blah: blue
Brick by Brick: rose pink

i'm so sorry i didn't vote in this, MLB consumed my life for the last few weeks.

Bee OK, Saturday, 15 October 2016 02:09 (nine years ago)

Moka, you are doing a fantastic job as always. not sure why hardly anyone is in this thread talking about Iggy?

Bee OK, Saturday, 15 October 2016 02:10 (nine years ago)

C'mon ILM, WAKE UP!

Bee OK, Saturday, 15 October 2016 02:10 (nine years ago)

*isn't talking about Iggy?

xpost

Bee OK, Saturday, 15 October 2016 02:22 (nine years ago)

yea - i mean obviously you dont expect everyone to be interested in the same things as you but i would have thought that this poll and subject in particular might have generated more interest - i am enjoying it all a tonne anyways becuz stooges/ iggy has completely change my whole life and outlook - but yep just sort of trying evaluate what this sorta muted response means - probably nothing sure but i cant help but think about the state of things and this board when you have what a i thought was one of the most iconic figures in 20C music struggling to generate any sort of vague discussion - is he just not interesting anymore or cool or whatever - i mean is that possible, c'mon

Have a nice weekend Moka, but don't forget to vote in the soul albums poll on Sunday!

ArchCarrier, Saturday, 15 October 2016 09:20 (nine years ago)

I will vote on the soul poll on Sunday I promise!

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 15 October 2016 09:57 (nine years ago)

85% of my music diet has been soul and funk for the past month.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 15 October 2016 09:58 (nine years ago)

And yeah what up ILM is there nothing to say about Iggy? He's like one of the main rock gods of all time come aowwwn! Noone rocks like him.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 15 October 2016 10:00 (nine years ago)

Discussion or not this poll has made me reconsider kill city and his later material after years of not hearing them and I'm finding a much more sensitive side of him I had never considered.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 15 October 2016 10:01 (nine years ago)

I want to thank you for this thread, and I am enjoying the yt links. Reading up about Iggy on wiki as well now.

The Kill City stuff is very different isn't it? Remarkable how the Rolling Stones vibe is kept up throughout. Did Iggy do more like this?

glumdalclitch, Saturday, 15 October 2016 11:17 (nine years ago)

Yeah, I'm also genuinely surprised at how relatively quiet this thread is. Nevertheless, you're doing a great job! I didn't manage to get a ballot in but there's only one or two things that I would have voted for that have placed so far!

pen pineapple apple pen (Turrican), Saturday, 15 October 2016 18:54 (nine years ago)

I know his stuff reasonably well through the 70s, but I still found myself overwhelmed by alternate versions/bootlegs/live recordings/later recordings when trying to prep for the poll, so that might be part of the problem. He does not have a concise discography, even on Tidal. But I'm also surprised by lack of interest.

dlp9001, Saturday, 15 October 2016 23:11 (nine years ago)

Peter Noone doesn't rock like him.

Mark G, Sunday, 16 October 2016 09:19 (nine years ago)
