I wasn't crazy about the singles from Emotion (dunno how to make the dots), but I'm so glad I finally listened to the full album. Everything is good to great and even the singles sound better in the context of the album. "Making the Most of the Night" is such a fucking rush
Reading through this thread was the first time I realized "I Really Like You" was not a big hit in the US? I've been living in Vietnam the past couple years and all my students knew the song. Typically, the only western music that gets popular here are the artists everyone in the world knows like Swift and Bieber, so I just assumed "I Really Like You" was as huge as "Call Me Maybe". I guess whatever makes her popular in Japan makes her popular here
― Vinnie, Saturday, 22 October 2016 09:50 (nine years ago)
Last I checked Spotify the spins for "I Really Like You" were about 228 mil while "Call Me Maybe" was 240 mil - surprisingly not too far from each other. Living in the US, I didn't realize she had any other songs that came close to her signature hit's popularity.

Ok, that's great. I just mentioned on one of the roller-skating threads how I saw a CRJ doppleganger at the rink on Sunday. My wife and I were talking about skating jams of our respective heydays and one of mine was definitely It Takes Two.

anyone know who produced "cut the feeling"?
she's been spending so much time in recording studios in L.A. with various luminaries, i can't wait til we get rumours on next release.
― mingalaba, Tuesday, 11 April 2017 07:39 (nine years ago)
What film is this for?
This is good but it kind of reminds me a bit of when Rihanna did things like 'We Found Love', which is obviously a banger but not much of 'a song'.

tbh I find the concept of that Landis piece really compelling but remain unconvinced that it can say anything that wasn't said better + more succinctly in this tumblr post:http://girlfriendluvr.tumblr.com/post/160811755073/carly-rae-jepsen-hideo-kojima-parallels
