i thought you'd like at least the arty avant garde digressions on celtic frost records lj but i prob misjudged how you feel about the actual metal

Celtic Frost covered all styles from the beginning speed/thrash/doom/gothic/death/black then added avant garde elements then hit a real low with cold lake, limped on then split then came back with the greatest comeback album ever IMO.

No thrash on this album its pretty much an avant doom/goth album but its magnificent and a worthy winner imo.

It was my #1

Monotheist is just that beloved on ILM? Cool.

Typical ILM though - if it won't give the prize to an album from 2000 that's basically upgraded Sabbath, it'll give it to a comeback from an 80s band :P

I'll have to guiltily admit that I'm old enough to have fallen out of love with metal long enough to have missed Dopethrone the first time around (and had a curiously blank reaction to it since) and was in the early days of second awakening and somehow ignored Monotheist, despite being a big Celtic Frost fan from way back. Curiouser, and curiouser. Still, plenty of listening to catch up on.
