Uncle Acid are awesome. "The Night Creeper" is particularly underrated. The Beatles gone stoner metal. Liking the Weakling album. It's a big dirty whirlwind of fear

Isis dont float my boat tbh

Neptune Bingo (Michael B), Friday, 16 September 2016 18:05 (seven years ago) link

imo just in terms of the year it came out (and albums that brought a lot of people into metal) leviathan >>>> panopticon

jmm, Friday, 16 September 2016 18:54 (seven years ago) link

Grinning Mouths still leaves me slack jawed and grinning like an idiot.

Sunn O))) Brother Where Art Thou? (Chinaski), Friday, 16 September 2016 18:54 (seven years ago) link

no fucking Thou in this thing

cookware regression (Dinsdale), Friday, 16 September 2016 18:55 (seven years ago) link

there's stuff to like about triptykon! but it's still quite mundane (bear in mind all thrash ever leaves me utterly cold) and I'm pretty sure its placement is riding on the celtic frost hypewave. buuuuut I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would

oceanic really suffers for being first heard after panopticon, probably

grinning mouths is on the superior album panopticon lol

imago, Friday, 16 September 2016 18:56 (seven years ago) link

its not thrash

Cosmic Slop, Friday, 16 September 2016 18:57 (seven years ago) link

Wow, people really like Isis. I better get more on this thing. Interesting that they're doing SO much better than, say, Neurosis.

Hi! I'm twice-coloured! (Sund4r), Friday, 16 September 2016 18:57 (seven years ago) link

no fucking Thou and like 15 Jute Gyte albums. Sad!

no fucking Thou in this thing

through silver in blood would have won this poll (maybe)

imago, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:00 (seven years ago) link

and no Woods of Desolation :(

alpine static, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:00 (seven years ago) link

No In Solitude's Sister. I should have weighted my ballot.

jmm, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:03 (seven years ago) link

the # of votes and also points were not even close between 1 & 2.

Cosmic Slop, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:04 (seven years ago) link

twice the amount of points and almost double the # of votes

Cosmic Slop, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:04 (seven years ago) link

My prediction upthread, eh?

imago, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:05 (seven years ago) link

Except add an extra 0

imago, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:05 (seven years ago) link

and no Woods of Desolation :(
― alpine static

I did my part! But no Rammstein, no Iron Maiden, no Motorhead, no Limp Bizkit - a sad day for mainstream rock/metal.

Siegbran, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:10 (seven years ago) link

There was Motorhead. #228

jmm, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:11 (seven years ago) link

Slop had best have thought of a good parody #2

imago, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:12 (seven years ago) link

I mean, if you want mainstream, Tool made the top 20.

Hi! I'm twice-coloured! (Sund4r), Friday, 16 September 2016 19:14 (seven years ago) link

Nope. But you have 5 or 10 mins to think of one while I finish my dinner

Cosmic Slop, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:15 (seven years ago) link

cant help it if the high profile fans of those bands in the rolling metal thread dont vote

Cosmic Slop, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:16 (seven years ago) link

2 Mötley Crüe - Red, White And Crüe 5249 Points, 24 Votes, TWO #1's

Siegbran, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:17 (seven years ago) link

yeah i'm not high profile, but i didn't nominate or vote, so i'm not gonna complain.

no Thou, though? yeesh.

alpine static, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:18 (seven years ago) link

well I'm gonna complain

cookware regression (Dinsdale), Friday, 16 September 2016 19:21 (seven years ago) link

it doesnt take many votes to get into the poll so that is not an excuse for folks that its not worth it but if they dont like polls they dont like polls

alpine static i wasnt meaning you though

but if people had compaigned for the likes of Thou etc i bet they would have made it

Cosmic Slop, Friday, 16 September 2016 19:22 (seven years ago) link

I didn't think they needed campaigning!
